I’d rather go through all of what you shared instead of having kids and make them carry all of my burdens later. I’m sure it hurts like hell and can be lonely as hell for some people, I’m not demeaning that pain in any way. But that doesn’t mean that a child is automatically going to take that pain away and should have to endure that along with them. I know a lot of people definitely have benefited from children helping take care of them, but a lot haven’t as well. I just don’t like how some people are having kids just so they can be a future caretaker. This depends entirely on how you raise your children. If you raise them to be empathetic, loving, supportive, and teach them good family values, they will come to you help. This is very shallow and generalized statement. But you can have your family members in a nursing home and it be a hard decision to make and not “leave them to rot” and still support and help them. That’s a key difference. If a parent has good values and teaches them to their kids, then those kids are going to grow up having those good values. However, if the parent lacks values or has terrible ones, then their kids are going to inherent what they grew up with. There are exceptions to everything, but as a general rule the people who abandon their parents in nursing homes or in their apartments or wherever, tend to be apathetic, entitled, selfish, and mean and they are a mirror of the parents who raised them. Keep in mind, by abandoned, I mean abandoned. This means no visits, no gifts, no phone calls, no support, nothing.
