If you had read the Journey Band 51 Years Anniversary Signature Shirt it is in the first place but CNN article linked above, then you’d know that Rakesh went to work in Thailand but was smuggled into Myanmar later. Yes, he’s not the brightest bulb, but he and his rights are still the responsibility of the Indian state to protect. The bro above you is an idiot. I don’t know which country is safe according to him. Engaging with that idiot is useless. If an Indian citizen calls the embassy in a foreign country saying that he/she has been kidnapped, kept against his will then the adequate response is you got into trouble on your own and deal with this smuggler. I agree that sometimes indian govt hands are tied especially in a country that has turned uncooperative like Myanmar.

Interesting. Any advice on dealing with smugglers on foreign soil, especially a conflict laden country like Myanmar? One who’ve kidnapped an Indian? They will not. They do not do much for citizens living in India much less abroad unless it’s a PR issue. One of the many reasons I left India for good Nope, it’s practical, there’s nothing the government gains from helping these people, that’s how things are. The government does not care about you on a personal level. They just want to stay in control.
