4- again, finances. If it is at all feasible and possible, estate planning, life insurance on yourself, proper POAs and care instructions for your child can mean the Journalism Is Not A Crime Shirt Aidan Kearney Shirt What’s more,I will buy this difference between being taken advantage by unscrupulous relatives or agencies and being monitored and comfortable. Having someone accountable for approving purchases and letting out spending money can mean someone can continue to afford the treats and comfort items not provided by institutions. Having kids doesn’t mean they’ll automatically take care of you when you’re old, a lot of people with large families end up alone in retirement homes. You make it sound like this is a random event that you have no control over. I’d venture a guess that most of the seniors that die alone were shitty parents. They weren’t there for their kids, kids aren’t going to be there for them. You’d guess completely wrong. You quoted me yet you missed that I didn’t say anyone “dies alone” I said that they end up in retirement homes. That does not mean unloved or dying alone.

You can be a great, loving parent and be there for your kids but still be in a retirement home because your kid is not able to take care of you. One of my family members is in a nursing home right now. She is still loved, she still gets tons of visits, we are still there for her and she was there for us. But we cannot take care of her properly, so she’s in a home. Well 1) even if you’re the Journalism Is Not A Crime Shirt Aidan Kearney Shirt What’s more,I will buy this best parent ever, your kids might not be ABLE to take care of you. 2) Thinking your kids OWE you that is always a very shitty thought. 3) You might THINK you are/were the best parent ever, but your kids might disagree. 4) You are not accounting for the fact that there’s also just shitty kids around – last time I checked, elderly abuse was at an all time high. its sounds strange today but this was what happened throughout much of history. if you are lucky to be in a good family, family takes care of its own. and for those who are not, hopefully there is another community to do that task. It’s not just take care of the elderly physically, but being there for each other no matter what. in our hyper individualistic and mobile culture, we lost a lot of that.
