Tyler core when all pics are the Joshua Block Evantube Funny Vintage Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this two guys who made Tyler’s style – I mean I get it, and you’re right – but it’s just funny to me. Really shows how much influence ye and Pharrell have Ah preppy kanye. This all feels so 2009 kid cudi era. Think Abercrombie polos, collegiate cuts with bright accent colors and clashing print t shirts + blazers. Fancy clothes but make them low key day glow and don’t forget to wear LAYERS. The double poppped collar, garish color scheme, too many patterns thing was actually a very short iteration of it in the mid to late 2000’s and kinda morphed into the early “hipster” streetwear thing with tight jeans, and all over print hoodies. That said, hip-hop appropriating “preppy” fashion goes back wayyy farther to like the mid 90’s with urban kids wearing alot of ralph lauren polo and tommy hilfiger, but baggy. Karl Kani took alot of influence from that in the mid 90’s too.

TBH, it’s kinda due for a resurgence, but if your looking for inspo check out 90’s era rappers cause they did it better. More focus on primary/complimentary colors and some color blocking. Like it’s still kinda “loud” but a more “tasteful” loud. A good example is cover art for ghost face killah’s “iron man” album. That last pic is a ralph lauren “southwestern” sweater. He does like 1 or 2 patterns a year. Some of them are super expensive collectors pieces at this point, but if you hunt around on ebay for a awhile you can find one for under $300. For a more contemporary version of this look check out Mifland Co. It’s a bit more workwear inspired, but they’ve got some very cool pattern/gradient polos and great statement pieces.
