Depends on whether it is an agency, a local (state or less) jurisdiction, or a federal agency. But you’ll likely snag a contempt charge, which can result in fines or jail time. Since this seems to be some sort of grand jury subpoena, I’m thinking it is a local grand jury. I did this exact thing for Satuday school my junior year. And what was waiting for me? The state-mandated assessment tests I missed that earned me Saturday school. Overall, I think more people would find it harder to lose X% of pounds than they would gain it (pure weight, no discrepancy on muscle or health). People will always strive for a certain look that, generally, is done by diet/exercise. I don’t believe the majority of people know what it’s like to not be hungry/feel full and forced to eat, it’s very unpleasant.
So yeah, I think it’s a mixture of prevalence (more people wish they were thinner than they do heavier) and health. Again, both are rude comments to make. Society in general is openly hostile toward fatness and adores thinness. People who have never been thin don’t even consider that skinny people could feel insecure about their weight. It’s not. I’ve been too skinny due to lack of self care & always felt like shit when people commented on it. Made me so uncomfortable. My case is opposite I was skinnyish almost fit as a child but as soon as I hit teenage I gained lots of weight and i really feel embarrassed and uncomfortable when people say terms like hippo, fatty etc.. Hopefully this year I’ll be able to lose weight. Because a skinny person being ashamed of their skinniness is, to some people, much less obvious than a fat person being ashamed of their fatness. So their impression is it’s “stop eating burgers, fatso, go for a run lazy ass” vs “aw you don’t eat enough, that’s okay you don’t have to be that skinny, go ahead and eat more ” That being said these days it’s for sure considered rude to tell fat people to lose weight, to their face at least. I’m not ashamed, but I can’t do anything about how I look. Regardless how much I eat or exercise I could never gain weight. I’m just naturally skinny. Yeah perhaps if I started a burgers and beer diet I would get some weight, but at what cost! Eating normally just doesn’t do it for me.
i would agree that noone should comment on anyone’s weight, but it kind of is socially acceptable to tell overweight people to loose weight? like ik it seems like fatphobia doesn’t exist anymore but it still does, also there will be people that comment on your weight no matter what weight you are. when we have a culture that dislikes heavier people its bound to harm other groups than said heavier people, maybe similar to how misogyny harms men too. but yeah even though there is a point where it can be medically harmful to have too much/ too little weight it still should not be commented on unprovoked or like not by a medical professional (there is a lot of fatphobia in the Jonquel Jones New York Liberty Big Head Signature shirt it is in the first place but medical field too tho)
It’s unacceptable to comment on another person’s body unless it’s something innocuous like “I love that tie.” or “Oooh you’re pulling off the Jonquel Jones New York Liberty Big Head Signature shirt it is in the first place but leopard!” What if you know the person very well and know that she had an eating disorder in the past that almost killed her. Then she got to a healthy weight and but you noticed she is starting to slowly regress back into a eating disorder. Running 7 miles a day, not eating enough to sustain the weight she does have. Losing 10 pounds in less than 6 months. ect. I noticed that it’s often people who are overweight that will talk underweight people down. I think it’s some sort of jealousy when there actually is nothing to be jealous about. I had a friend who was info fitness, he is super tall and strong, has a lot of muscle, and he never ever commented on me, or anyone’s body size. I think there is something very weird in peoples heads. Like, why would you even look at someone, measure their weight, compare it and determine is that too much or too little? I don’t even have that process in my mind, I really don’t get it. And when I say something back, like “Well you don’t look so great either”, that’s a real issue. I’m so annoyed by the whole concept. I’m in the UK and get comments all the time, the favourite being ‘I’ve seen more meat on a butchers pencil’. I’m told I need to eat more pies. Get called ‘the skinny one’ all the time. But the one that gets me every time is ‘it’s alright for you’.
