As I told my coworkers still on nightshift (I had to bail after 10 years, it was going to kill me): “may the Jonas Brothers boy band shirt Besides,I will do this hour be short, your patients be intubated and the propofol flow as if from god herself ” I work overnights at a hospital and I just went through this. Thankfully I’m just an inpatient pharmacy tech so the past 2-3 7 day stretches have been slow so I honestly was just chilling that night. I worked at a 24/7 call center that would just automatically pay the regular 8 hours for the overnight shift and say “it evens out when the clocks go forward in the spring because you get paid for 8 hours and only work 7” They had a lot of illegal pay practices that people just accepted, like forcing everyone to come in 15 minutes before their shift to make sure info was passed along but not paying us for it. Our pay started at the time our shift started. When I got hired, I walked in at the time of my shift multiple times and I got written up for not showing up 15 mins early. It was kinda crazy

I KNOW SOMEONE WHO TAKES THAT NIGHT OFF EVERY YEAR SO SHE DOESNT HAVE TO GET STUCK WORKING 13 AND ONLY GET PAID FOR 12. Sure, but if they are doing the Jonas Brothers boy band shirt Besides,I will do this same for someone that starts when daylight savings time is ending, they’re probably rewarding them with a hour of free labor if they quit somewhere in the next 9 months. Not that big of a sunken cost, but call centers are usually also the ones bitching if you’re taking an additional 2 min pee break. Looking back on it I realize I could have sued for lost wages or something similar but I was young, working my first non-minimum wage job, and grateful to finally be out of retail and in an office setting. It felt like I had no choice but to accept their work practices because I honestly didn’t know any better.
