It’s a funny joke (with the Join Us Oj Simpson Shirt moreover I love this obvious dash of truth making it black humor). She’s not literally saying “don’t do it.” You’re right, though – we should all stop going to Starbucks and start making coffee at home. Better for you; better for the environment; better for your wallet. Until you actually do that, and then Starbucks turn up at the [White House|parliament|centre/center of government] crying because the meanie younger generation are ruining their business and your taxes get used to prop them up. The office I work at has a lot of entry level workers making probably $40-50k. The amount of them that come in with Starbucks drinks and breakfast almost every single day is a lot. It’s their money, they can do what they want with it. But yes, people are absolutely making those kind of purchases. But it isnt cool like bringing a starbucks to work. You get store made coffee and also display wealth that barely is there Kind of sad I had to scroll so far to see this. I think these pieces of advice get taken as condescending, but in reality they just reminders to cut back on things that you can probably do without. They are useful and have merit. It’s tough out there and the way things are is definitely unfair…but just because you didn’t have massive privilege doesn’t mean you have to baulk at effective money saving advice. Before my current job, I worked as a creative for about 12 years. I earned enough money to get by, but you bet your arse I didn’t buy coffees/alcohol/fast food. The money I saved is what allowed me to survive. I have friends now (in their 30s) that say they are broke, but will easily spend over 100 bucks a week on fast food/going out, and will buy a coffee without fail every day. No, that money won’t pay for a house, but it adds up to well over a few grand a year…that’s money that could be used to ease the cost of living stress.

Fred Trump was worth hundreds of millions, and Trump stole all of it (at the Join Us Oj Simpson Shirt moreover I love this expense of his siblings) and then made arrangements not to pay tax on it (illegally). It is categorically untrue that he only got a few million bucks to start his empire with. He started out with the entire thing. also espresso machines aren’t cheap. i have a lower end one that i got on sale……… i’d have to make over 100 grande lattes or 85 matcha lattes (at starbucks prices) to break even on the machine, and that’s not counting the costs of milk, syrups, matcha powder, coffee beans. i don’t regret my machine – i use it daily and drive to work before any drive thru places even open – but if you want cafe quality coffee then the equipment is spensive There are about 22 million millionaires in the US. That’s about 1 out of every 11 adults. The overwhelming majority of them are self made and did it with normal boring retirement accounts (401k, IRA, etc). All we see in the news is the evil tech CEO, but most millionaires are Bob down the street who was a pilot/teacher/plumber/etc for 40 years and has $1.7 million in his 401k.
