Never did this and no one did it to me. You WERE obligated to take a bite (provided it was made with mainstream ingredients) you didn’t have to try liver, head cheese, oysters, etc, but if it was something like homemade pot pie and you just did NOT love the John Kramer the jigsaw tour shirt in addition I really love this look. but it was made with chicken, veg, flour etc, try it. Sees the title: I mean, kids are fucking stupid, and will either sit there for an hour not eating, the scream about how hungry they are the moment the food is taken away. Reads the comment: Holy shit, being told to eat is the least important part of that entire scenario. That kid is definitely being “spanked, yelled at, belittled, and forced…” a lot, over everything. As were their parents. And theirs before them. Abuse is a cycle that has to be actively broken. Unfortunately, broken people don’t often have the emotional resources to break the cycle, even if they want to. It happens on the societal level, as well.

Cause they will be hungry 7 minutes later and will eat $713 worth of junk food that is terrible for them instead of the John Kramer the jigsaw tour shirt in addition I really love this healthy meal that was served. I don’t force my kid to eat in general. But I will usually have some kind of fruit or vegetable on their plate and if he wants another helping of mac and cheese, he’s gotta eat those strawberries (or carrots or whatever) first. We cook pretty much all our food from scratch, and our kid is really good at trying new things and eating his food. We give him much smaller portions than ours, and sometimes he eats it all before us and sometimes it takes him a million years to eat it as he gets distracted. We went to a nice gastropub and he ate, without an issue, a small starter which was a duck pate on a small sourdough toast and he just gulped it down and said “yummy!” But, guess what, it costs a lot to make sure that we make all our food from scratch. Especially always having fresh veg. I’m very lucky that my kid is good with food. I believe 90% of that is because how we made sure from the moment we did baby led weaning, he just ate the same stuff as us. Never anything different. I grew up very poor so my parents instilled the “you have to finish your whole plate no matter what” mentality into me at a very young age. Didn’t matter if I wasn’t hungry or how full I was, I HAD to finish it. If I didn’t, they’d scold me and make me feel guilty because we didn’t have much money.
