I was just about to ask if anyone had done french toast crumpets (frumpets?) because I think that would be something I would enjoy. So I’ll be doing that tomorrow. Well, we never called it french toast, it’s “eggy bread” but I thought people wouldn’t know what I meant. It’s not sweet. Growing up I’d only ever eaten crumpets as a supper type thing. These days, now I am actually grown up, I eat them for breakfast too. I’m 34, British, and I’ve never had a crumpet. None of my family ate them when I was growing up so they just kind of passed me by. I’m sure I’d like them but I never think to buy them. Breakfast, lunch and snack! Favourites are with honey, marmite or cheese spread after melting butter over it first.
