Your example is evidence towards my point, it’s too niche an audience and it always has been. Until there are big enough unique use cases at scale that only VR can address en masse, it’s never going to go anywhere.

That is the difference – it’s what a phone or even the largest TV cannot provide, because they are 2D displays with abstract interfaces. If the goal is you want to hang out with a friend by watching a movie, the ideal experience would be to either physically go to a movie theater together, physically sit on a couch together and watch stuff on your TV, or the next best thing would be to do this in VR where you get a sense of that feeling.
