My sweet kitty Noodle needed emergency heart surgery. It cost about $8k in total but they couldn’t save her. It wiped out our savings and the Jihad Ward American football linebacker New York Giants signature T-Shirt it is in the first place but family hasn’t really recovered from that. 2 level spinal fusion with 6 screws and 4 rods for a vertebra that slipped forward 50% due to a small birth defect that didn’t hold the vertebra in place. FYI the titanium hardware cost more than the surgeon, the operating room, and the hospital stay at Stanford University. $14,000 in taxes a few years ago because I lost my job, went to the healthcare marketplace, got new insurance there that was insanely expensive (but paid for by subsidies)…. I pulled my retirement to cover living expenses while I trained and switched careers, which put me over the income bracket for the subsidies, so I had to pay them all back and then some. Yes I could have stayed at my dead end job but my new career is 3x the pay and allows me to live outside the US. This experience and countless others involving the “health care” system in the US is why I now live in a developing nation with universal healthcare rather than a degenerating nation like the US. I’ve also owned two older houses and both required a new furnace/ac within a year of purchase, each costing about $10k.

Friend and I got stranded on a very cold night near the Jihad Ward American football linebacker New York Giants signature T-Shirt it is in the first place but Grand Canyon. Took a wrong turn down a very long dirt road and got a tire stuck on a large rock. After hours of trying to get it unstuck, we had to call 911 and get towed out. Ended up being $600. Had to cash in my entire retirement account to pay for an out-of-network anaesthesiologist. His practice was in-network (we checked ahead of time) but HE wasn’t since he was new. Didn’t think to ask that question at the pre-op visit. I had started to type up the whole story but the still too LDR is that last December my five year old cat needed a $?,000 surgery to clear an intestinal blockage or she was going to die. My cats are my closest family members right now as my mother died three years ago. This cat was her favorite. Right before my mother died, her uncle died and left her money. After handling her estate I was left with some money. I used some of it to pay down student loans and saved the rest. I saw it as my only safety net in the absence of parents , a spouse,or siblings.I had to tap into it in October when I was gently kicked out of my former apartment and needed to furnish my own. Then right before Christmas I spent half of my life savings to keep my idiotic but beloved cat (who had eaten my hair and a piece of ceramic litter pellet) alive. I didn’t even pause when they told me the price I just handed them my card and asked them to get to it please. Some people think I should have just went with the $250 special ( euthanasia and cremation) but I couldn’t lose another family member and although I am not religious or spiritual, my mother would somehow find a way to haunt me for not saving her baby with the money that I got from her.
