He owned a huge local business and wife was a SAHM. My son was friends with their 16 year old boy. My son came home and said that the mom and kids were moving to another town and the dad was staying here. I asked why. He said they were moving so that the 16 year old and 14 year olds could pursue their “music careers”….never knew they had one. We live in a town of 1200. They were moving to a town of less than 1000 3 hours further rural. Not a place to persue a music career. Anyway, he said that the dad was staying here for one year to finish the stuff with his business and then they’d all get back together. I just mumbled that it sounded like they were getting divorced and this was the “cooling off period” of one year before they could file for divorce but cool story bro. (That’s the law here). A few days later I had the mom in my face at basketball saying my son disclosed the divorce they weren’t ready to tell their children about yet and had just “ruined their whole family”. I am more careful now with my offhanded comments but they weren’t fooling anyone.
