Because the Jerami Grant American professional basketball player for the Portland Trail Blazers T-Shirt and I love this people who abuse the system will consume all the resources while people who need the healthcare will have to wait. Because it’s not actually free, it’s funded by taxing you more. I lived in a country with socialised healthcare and paid a ludicrous amount of tax for it, yet barely used it. I also lived in a Euro country with insurance based health care. Was far cheaper and substantially better Nothing is free. Someone pays for it. The government is the worst manager of money anywhere. Private sector is always more efficient than government. One of the problems is corruption. Few patients, doctors and hospital staff can rig the system. Create fake health records, do no treatment, and charge the government. Or patients can end selling their medications on the black market. The system would be very easy to abuse.

Because the Jerami Grant American professional basketball player for the Portland Trail Blazers T-Shirt and I love this word TAXES is in there. Immediately, the fear is that their taxes will be raised “to pay for someone else’s healthcare.” followed by, “Probably someone too lazy to work or an illegal.” Additionally, the media sensationalizes fringe examples from other countries and goes, “Look, this person had to wait 8 months to see their doctor!” Most common arguments I hear is you wait in line forever. Um, hate to break it to you, but every doctor and dentist I know requires 1 to 3 weeks to make an appointment. Vietnam, might be in a hospital for one full day, but I’m seen same day. Also… $5 xray. Without insurance. Because they have been told over and over again that it’s not possible. That it doesn’t work, that it means inferior care, that it means longer wait times, that their situation isn’t actually that bad, that a hospital bill is very manageable if you practice “good finances”, that it’s more expensive than having private health insurance.
