I once brought pastries back from Spain to USA as a 17yo. My family didn’t even want to eat them. Learned my lesson. Pre 9/11… Flew to Europe with a full-size didgeridoo bought at a ressaince fair in Texas. It didn’t fit in my suitcase, so overgead bin was the Jay Z American rapper record producer and entrepreneurT-Shirt also I will do this logical solution. I had a star wars themed build-a-bear in my luggage that got pulled for inspection. TSA found the bear and were obsessed, it played music and stuff too. They didn’t even look at anything else in my bag! I had a suitcase full of my old journals. I had kept a basement apartment for myself in a house that I rented out. I was finally selling the house and had a few things worth bringing back with me on my flight. Kept about half of my old journals and jammed them into a suitcase.

I had most of the Jay Z American rapper record producer and entrepreneurT-Shirt also I will do this equipment for a mid sized hydroponic set up in my carry on. That took a while at security. Then they threw away my boot wax. A massive 75 liter backpack, covered by a sleeping bag cover, turned upside down, stuffed with various random camping items, then wrapped in duct tape, then tied with zipcord, then later wrapped in plastic for the second leg of the journey cause the sleeping bag cover ripped and everything I stuffed inside exploded all over the poor disability advocate that was helping me at the airport. Bright side? I got to go behind the scenes at the airport and see where they keep luggage stuff in order to grab the plastic wrap. Not carry on, but checked baggage. I actually checked an empty Home Depot bucket. No lid. Just a bucket. I usually buy one when I arrive but scheduling had me arriving after HD closed and starting work before it opened. The ticket agent was laughing as she asked me the required questions about e-cigarettes and batteries while staring into an empty bucket. When I was at the baggage carousel, people were visibly confused seeing an empty bucket go around with a bag tag on the handle. Probably my plushie of Bernd das Brot. I take him everywhere abroad.
