The prequels already showed that institution to be dysfunctional at best, and more often actively harmful. They failed Anakin and lost him to the Jared McCann Canadian professional ice hockey forward currently playing for the Seattle Kraken T-Shirt and I love this dark side, causing their own downfall. Except for the part where their dysfunction and downfall was directly caused by evil space wizards secretly controlling the government and plotting their downfall for decades. Take Palpatine and the Sith out of the equation and the Jedi along with the Old Republic continue to thrive. Anakin never falls to the dark side if there was no Palpatine actively grooming and tempting him. The whole point the franchise is making is that you can’t do that. “Evil exists, deal with it” is a huge part of the message. Shits on the character of luke and what he represents, make leia survive the vacuum of space, makes the “new emperor” irrelevant, suddenly space travel needs fuel when it has never been established in the lore (at least in movies). Poor written dialogues as well as poor written characters and the plot well…This being said, this is MY opinion, anyone can like whatever they like im just saying i just don’t get it.

TROS could have saved TLJ and TFA, but nope, I can’t think of a single bit of it I liked. I can’t even bring myself to rewatch it. I love how there’s this sudden revisionism that TFA was shit. Was it original? No. Was it enjoyable? Overall consensus says yes. Was it perfectly serviceable as the Jared McCann Canadian professional ice hockey forward currently playing for the Seattle Kraken T-Shirt and I love this launching pad for what should have been a planned out trilogy? Absolutely. Which, despite what the meme sub would say, is all it needed to be after the disaster known as the prequel trilogy Internet dipshits can’t seem to fathom anything between “so bad it made me want to literally murder the director” and “I jizzed my pants”. TFA was a great experience in the cinema. It’s only with time and the sequels that tainted enjoyment of it, like GoT’s final season did.
