From someone who IS that friend and had so many people drop me over the Jaden Ivey American professional basketball player for the Detroit Pistons NBA T-Shirt in contrast I will get this years; sometimes we can’t pull ourselves out of it. Our achievements are tiny compared to your life goals but they mean a huge amount to us. Losing friends made my mental health worse and still effects me “why don’t people want to hang out with me? What’s wrong with me? Fine I’ll just be on my own then” these things circle through your mind and quite honestly just having a friend message once a month and check in or hang out means the world to me now. I’m not at the point of not having a job and not having goals, but anxiety cripples my life decisions daily and struggling to hide it so other people “don’t ditch me” is always in the front of my mind.

I’d encourage you to have a talk with your friend, let them see that you are concerned for them and that you have these feelings, but please don’t just abandon them – your friendship really is important. I really resonate with what you’re saying. It’s like walking a tightrope, isn’t it? Balancing your own well-being and ambitions with the Jaden Ivey American professional basketball player for the Detroit Pistons NBA T-Shirt in contrast I will get this loyalty and concern you feel for a friend. I’ve been on both sides of that line – where I was the one who needed a gentle push towards something better and where I had to be the one giving the nudge. When I was in your friend’s shoes, a buddy of mine sat down with me, looked me in the eye, and said something that struck a chord. He told me he saw two paths for me: one where I continued down the road I was on, and another, brighter one, where I took steps to make a change. He made it clear that while he couldn’t walk the path for me, he’d be cheering me on from the sidelines. It was that mix of stark honesty and supportive friendship that led me to seek out resources that made a difference. Things like finding a new direction weren’t easy, but knowing there were professionals who could guide me through the fog helped a lot. And trust me, it wasn’t an overnight fix, but each small step was a victory, especially with friends like mine who didn’t let go, even when they stepped back.
