I know that sounds pretentious but I think I’m justified after how pretentious the Jaco Pastorius Music is The Only Thing Keeping The Planet T-Shirt it is in the first place but OOP is with their “See what I mean” schtick. I’ve always seen religion as a guideline for life rather than absolute fact. Jesus often preached using parables, which my parents insisted were real stories, but the term comes from the Latin of parabola:“comparison”. I always thought of these stories as extended metaphors meant to teach people important values and lessons of life. A lot of the things that I feel make me a better person in life I learned first from Sunday school as a child. I’m also bi as fuck and don’t appreciate the judgement from a lot of Christians, but I will never trash their religion, because maybe if they would read the book they love, they would learn not to be so judgmental. Not all of them, just a very very vocal minority… It’s an absence of belief. Meaning you don’t have to keep looking over the fence at them and trying to insult them to make yourself feel better.

I know the Jaco Pastorius Music is The Only Thing Keeping The Planet T-Shirt it is in the first place but main thing alot of people get wrong, even in religions themselves, is that believing without proof is the point. That’s the “faith” aspect. Asking for or trying to find proof of religious beliefs is sort of pointless. If there was proof it wouldn’t be religion anymore. For me, I guess I’m some form of christian but pretty far removed from most sects of it, and believe in god mostly because I find the morals of Christ very agreeable and universal, and frankly the idea of God is comforting compared to nothing for me. 318 more repliesThis is the equivalent of “I know you are but what am I”. They also didnt address a single point made Y’all sitting here in comments trying to make realistic explanations and takes on religion and trying to find deeper meaning when OP is clearly not interested in anything besides bad faith trolling on the internet. Religion is like TTRPGs. If you try to tell some ppl there are any others than the most popular version of the most popular example (western Christianity/DnD 5e), there’s a good chance they just ignore you
