The air pressure gets lower and lower as you go higher in altitude, like in water. For example, the heart rate drops to a very low level (think in the range of 30 beats per minute), the respiration rate drops, blood pressure drops, making it very difficult to continue exertion. But taking a break to rest, makes it worse, as the break won’t resolve the causes or symptoms, but will lead to further hypothermia.
