I think we’ve always been this bad. Its just that social media amplified jerks and assholes and handed them the Ja Morant American professional basketball player Memphis Grizzlies T-Shirt besides I will buy this megaphones. Sometimes. I did a “bury my head in the sand” move and cut out a lot of social media and only check news once in a while only for what I really need to stay informed and ignore the rest. It’s helped. People are the best and the worst. There are some who offer glimmers of hope, like stars shining against the dark void of mediocrity, stupidity and cruelty. It’s been like that for thousands of years. Wars will come and go. So will communities. Only difference us we hear about it now due to technology. Yes but focus on the littlest things. The leaf on a tree , the smell of cut grass , the sea , be so present in your here and now that’s all that you have In the grand scheme of the history of our earth humanity is the cruelest that we know of and has produced some of the worst events and most likely to create even more terrible things to themselves, the rest of the earth or both. But none of the cruelty discounts the beauty made as well: the art, the culture, passion, entertainment, family, and so much more joy to many billions of humans through history as well and just as the misery will continue to happen as long as humans exist, their contentment will remain with through many mediums Can’t have saints without sinners. Meetings are on alternate Tuesdays at 530 in the park by the bowling alley. Absolutely. And it also depends on where you look. Yes the world is full of horrible, selfish, cruel people. And then there’s a whole bunch of people who are truly kind, compassionate and fun. And as long as there is one kind hearted person, or one loyal dog in this world to make someone smile, I think there’s still hope. I have found a really good cure for this is to remove yourself from social media. Including any particularly toxic subreddits you may be subscribed to. I abandoned all social media about 5 years ago and have a very tightly curated group of sub Reddits I stick to and at the same time I’ve tried to interact with people in my actual community more and seriously it has made a world of difference. There are a lot of problems out there and it’s so easy to feel hopeless when it’s all you see. I’m not advocating a head in the sand mentality but no social media + real world Interactions have really made me realize that there is a lot more good and hope in this world than we may think. hopelessness and humanity are two sides of the same coin. i just hope that we’re unable to expand past this planet and we die on the planet we’ve damaged
