Didn’t ask to be here, am expected to stay out of guilt for how my leaving would harm the I’ve Seen It Smelled It I’m A Retired Nurse Shirt but in fact I love this people who forced me to be here, gotta sleep 1/3 of my life, have excruciating periods for 1/4 of it, gotta work nearly every day for most of the day where I’m treated like garbage by other people who don’t want to be here, and then with my free time I have to buy groceries and make food so I can continue being here to continue lining the pockets of people who don’t even care about me. Meanwhile, i dont get nearly enough time with the people who do care about me. It’s illegal to live “off the map” because every piece of land within a thousand miles of me is owned. It’s illegal where I am to collect rainwater even. It’s illegal to be homeless and completely self-sufficient. It’s illegal to not have health insurance but health insurance is far from free so im forced to work. I feel like I could go on forever.

I’m not saying taxes themselves are a scam. Taxes are the I’ve Seen It Smelled It I’m A Retired Nurse Shirt but in fact I love this price of a civilized society. But filing your taxes is. It’s an entire fucking industry out there, a seasonal industry, that springs up in the beginning of every year that’s entirely unecessary. The federal government knows precisely what you owe, exactly what your deductions are. Every single numerical form you receive regarding your taxes? 1099, W2, all that shit? The IRS has already received a copy themselves. Filing taxes could be as simple as receiving a bill from the Feds in April (or March), writing in your charitable deductions, and mailing it in, with possibly a check if you owe some money. We’ve invented a nonsense industry solely for the purpose of ensuring money changes hands. There’s a word for that: WELFARE. Make a simple math error. Nothing serious, just interchange the position of two digits in the cents or the first decimal place. And of course make sure it’s in the government’s favor. So if, say, your W2 taxes paid is $127.85, write in $127.58. They’ll correct it automatically and send you the correct refund.
