Both my parents voted for trump… and as my mom was a victim of sa i asked her how she could vote for someone who was so vile to women and my mom’s response was “ it happened a long time ago, it was just joke”. My jaw dropped I honestly don’t know how they can ignore and just go with the Ivan Cornejo vintage shirt in other words I will buy this “popular” vote at the time. I’m scared to ask if they will vote for him again.. I don’t want to know the answer. Trying to inform them and have them read facts over the yrs hasn’t worked so I gave up. The joke excuse doesn’t really work after he’s been declared liable of sexual abuse by a jury. Not that most trumpers will care at all. I am sure my dad will vote for him a third time. My dad went on and on about what Clinton did when he was in office and how horrible it was. With Trump he just waved it away or but Hillary’d it. He literally just laughed about it. My dad is a very conservative Christian and I have a lot of friends that are as well. If you try to talk about what Trump has done, you get a lot of “we are all sinners”. Or “let he who is without sin…”. They just don’t care. They will find any reason possible to not vote for the democrat. My cousin, a relatively intelligent guy, will deny Trump said things even when given direct video evidence. Or claim he didn’t mean what he clearly said. It is disheartening. Welcome to the social media age, which rewards extremism and drama queen behavior with extra attention and free advertising.

Trump has a following because he is the Ivan Cornejo vintage shirt in other words I will buy this personification of our own character failings we see manifest on the internet: narcissism, attention seeking, scrolling and ranting. That’s when I knew we were fucked as a Nation. Only a few years prior getting caught saying something like that would have been a death sentence for a political candidate. Instead, it was chalked up as “locker room talk” or “boys being boys” and they just continued to love him. Meanwhile Billy Bush got fired for having the misfortune of being on the bus with him. Not only would have it been a death sentence politically, a person would be shunned from just about any important job. The Billy Bush thing left me shaking my head. It was so appalling that Billy lost his job, but not appalling enough to stop the guy who was the actual perpetrator of the crime, and the statement, to be disqualified as a candidate for President. His followers know the truth – it’s a game of power, not ethics. They believe Trump will literally roll tanks through liberal cities if he regains power, and somehow they think that will benefit the little guy running a tractor in a corn field right now.
