When things get really bad I shut in for a couple of days and often listen to music on self destructive levels of volume until I’m able to cry, then I move on. On normal levels I usually just beatbox, sing and dance to release stress… Or I just become 0% productive for a while and I use my phone/PC 24/7 until I feel better Put on an interesting audiobook and play a silly little phone game, one that makes you match colours or sort shapes or whatever. It stops me thinking in circles while I focus on the It’s Okay To Be Different Autism Awareness Cute Elephant shirt but in fact I love this story and my hands are kept busy, I find it quite meditative. Negative self-talk, humbles you right down. Being upset about your a situation or you circumstances is resistance. Just tell yourself you deserve this.I used anger to get myself out of a depressive episode. I externalized the depression as a hostile entity trying to ruin my life and got angry at it. It worked.
It’s Okay To Be Different Autism Awareness Cute Elephant shirt: Unleash Your Dinosaur Style
I am proud of it, because sometimes in life shit needs to get done no matter what, but I am aware of the It’s Okay To Be Different Autism Awareness Cute Elephant shirt but in fact I love this detrimental effects of going like that long run. Writing poetry, creative nonfiction personal essays, and journaling. My biggest dream is to publish a memoir that focuses on healing and helps others, someday, when I’m healed, myself. Humor is my most powerful coping mechanism. Watching a comedy, hanging out with funny friends, pulling pranks. Those are the things that usually do the trick for me. I pour a lot of stress, anxiety, and anger into writing and playing music. It’s a hell of a lot healthier than my other coping mechanisms. Alcohol and cigarettes are hard to give up, but music helps.
( sad story because I was a really shy nice emo kid, and lowlifes pick you for an easy target…. I had to learn how to fight the It’s Okay To Be Different Autism Awareness Cute Elephant shirt but in fact I love this hard way. Better than drugs or alcohol I guess) Idk what you mean like coping with being a idiot , weak , broke etc I im trying to fix it but my biggest cope is that no matter if your rich or poor we will both be dead in the next 3 – 4 generations Sometimes there’s no space for peace until the chaos has had its say. Have a sit, put on headphones and let double bass pedals shake my skull while someone screams for me when I can’t. Instead of trying to seek peace, I let myself go on an absolute rip shit riot in my head until I’ve gassed myself out. Usually somewhere near the end, angry becomes a clear understanding of how to change what went wrong, or move forward or onward from it. I sleep if I feel like crying… Or if I am feeling low I put some peppy song like jhumka and start dancing to distract myself and if it’s something bothering me for a while like a heart break .. I write a letter penning down all my feeling and let it go as many pages it needs to be, then i reread it trying to comprehend my emotions once I have read it many times and I feel my emotions are out I burn it and flush it … Really helps me and I also write a journal every night

Gym, my doggos and kitties, naps, dinner with loved ones, and just keeping in mind that things will work out in the It’s Okay To Be Different Autism Awareness Cute Elephant shirt but in fact I love this end. Keep your head up Acceptance and focusing on what I can control. They go hand in hand. Also, acknowledging that 5 degree shifts rather than 180 degree turns will get me to my goal, so I don’t expect drastic behavior or action of myself, rather, I work on improving a bit every day (like Kaizen). I set myself goals and imagine what will happen next if I don’t achieve any of my dreams and goals and it motivates me a lot because I don’t want to live my life for nothing. Idk about proud, but it’s so satisfying to go to airsoft and shoot a 12 yo in the face mask or scare them with a grenade when they’re being a toxic little shit.
Most of the It’s Okay To Be Different Autism Awareness Cute Elephant shirt but in fact I love this time I enjoy taking a long walk. I like to exercise and this helps me cope with my depression and anxiety and I feel a little more alive. On really bad days, I stay in my room and don’t speak to anyone for a set amount of time, just thinking to myself. I was drinking. Sober for almost 4 months now and this is kind of a frightening question you’re asking, what will I do. Probably go for a walk, jump into the river, swim, talk to the wind about my problems, share a few tears with the water, then anything that can keep me busy for a while I guess, take a nap and keep thinking “be the best version of yourself”. Maladaptive daydreaming. Had it since childhood. I’m pretty much sure it is a mental disorder, but it helps me escape this reality when things get hard. I don’t want to get rid of it. Apathy or just not giving a fuck and just forgetting shit. Cant be mad at someone for something i don’t remember. Cant have a burnout, if i forget about stress before it accumulates. Immune to drama if i can’t even remember the participants. My coping mechanisms have gotten a lot healthier thanks to some therapy and doing work on myself But even before that probably my best one is how my brain kicks in during stressful & difficult conversations. I have the ability to be super calm and cool and collected in the moment and I tap into my extensive vocabulary so that I can say exactly what I want/need to say. I’m intelligent and well educated and I’m more of a beer + jeans & tshirt woman with low-brow sense of humor and a love for f* bombs lol, so the intelligent side isn’t always obvious (because people make assumptions). It kicks in and drives me in difficult & stressful situations. I gives me confidence to know that I am communicating as clearly as I can and shit is less likely to be misconstrued & thrown in my face later (or if it is I can call bullshit on that).
It’s been a life saver more than once. A time I had to get a lawyer and confront people that held more power than myself it came in clutch! I was cool and collected and intelligent and well spoken and I presented the It’s Okay To Be Different Autism Awareness Cute Elephant shirt but in fact I love this info they thought I didn’t have, shocked the shit out of them and they were suddenly willing to negotiate with me and my lawyer (and one even complimented me on how well I handled myself, even knowing they were pretty screwed)… and it was soooo satisfying. I was a crying stressed out mess before & after but had my shit together when I needed to In my worst moments, I always think how much worse it could be, but isn’t. And knowing that this, too, will pass. (I learned that from my mother, who, in spite of a horrific childhood that was full of fear and deprivation, maintained a sense of optimism that sustained her through it all, and she said that even as a small child she knew that their dire circumstances were merely temporary, and could change for the better at any time.) Extra cup of coffee, heating pad, bed, locked door and kids will need to fend for themselves. Usually it’s an hour break once in a while, but this past Christmas I was stricken with migraines from caregiver fatigue and I didn’t (couldn’t) get out of bed for like 10 days. First time I’ve ever experienced something like that and amazingly, the family figured it out without me.
Playing video games. If I’ve had a really rough day, I will buy my favourite soda, sit down, and just play some Assassin’s Creed. Meditation, deep breathing exercises, writing, and art. Took me a long time to learn those, and, yes, I am proud. Get a sledge hammer. Go to a local car scrap yard. Ask if they have any cars that will be crushed soon (they will). Ask if they care if you wack on one for 20 minutes (they won’t). Put on protective gear (sunglasses and gloves). When you notice your brain is caught in some sort of “circular negative thought cycle” .. break out of it and try to think more positive, constructive thoughts. For me,. what I normally notice is that any time I’m stuck worrying about something or having anxiety,. it’s almost always because of “incomplete information” (I’m worrying about some unknown thing,. and if I just educate myself or learn more information about that thing,.. it dissipates the It’s Okay To Be Different Autism Awareness Cute Elephant shirt but in fact I love this size of the worries). I also find often in my life,. that I’m worrying about things .. that really aren’t important enough to worry about. I’ve also found often that it’s far far far better to dive in early (when problems are small) and get them done.. than it is to delay or avoid them which usually only ends up margin the problems bigger down the road. Even if it’s just scrubbing rust off of old stuff and putting in a new coat of paint. It feels therapeutic to me
Same when dealing with deep grief. Being alone and away I feel less constrained to be the It’s Okay To Be Different Autism Awareness Cute Elephant shirt but in fact I love this “strong” guy in the family. I can now cry, audibly talk to myself, scream if needed. I can remember and repeat important parts in my mind and in my heart without “noise”. Which is why, when I need to physically detach from some hard situation, I tend to go to unpopulated places. As a side note, I live in a U.S. state where even the big cities are small and you can reach forested mountains or barren deserts by just driving 20 minutes in any direction; which has been a great resource when I’ve needed to go away to process things. Not giving a fuck in any possible way. Yes my life may be in ruins but can’t get sad over it if I don’t acknowledge it. For me, it is to turn to my dog and think about him and how he would feel if I was not around and think about what would happen to him if I was not around.
Keeping myself busy and taking care of whatever needs to be taken care of. My mother just last month passed away suddenly. I cried, I was sad, but I am also the It’s Okay To Be Different Autism Awareness Cute Elephant shirt but in fact I love this executor of the estate and stuff needed to be handled, like cleaning her apartment out, starting to handle her accounts, shutting down credit cards, phone, cable, etc…so I just focused on handling everything. I get so much done when I am stressed out and it actually is quite a relief for me when I get things done. I didn’t avoid the grief, I just allowed myself to feel it whenever it came, but kept moving forward with handling things. It makes it a little easier and I don’t allow things to drag out and not get done. Walking…could be for 2-3 hours…I walk and think, that’s my way of processing information or deciding how to cope with a stressful situation
Bad and good ones. • Listening to music loud (headphones and speakers) • Overeat • Drink less water • Cold showers in the It’s Okay To Be Different Autism Awareness Cute Elephant shirt but in fact I love this morning Always strive to demonstrate reverence for any circumstance that you might find yourself in and be sensitive to the situation…But as often and whenever possible, look for the absurdity and bizarre in all other situations and don’t hesitate for a moment to point it out and find the humor in any situation because life is a lot easier when you’re laughing…And of all the species that inhabit the earth, as the species that uploads videos of kittens and puppies doing quirky, fascinating things, we as Homo sapiens are just a tad bit hypocritical because we have a tendency to do things that cats and dogs and all other creatures would be texting each other with ROTFLMAO watching videos of the things that we do on a regular basis…
Going outside. A long walk with my dog will usually make me feel a lot better. However, when I don’t have the It’s Okay To Be Different Autism Awareness Cute Elephant shirt but in fact I love this energy or am sick music always helps. Whenever I’m home alone in the morning I’ll put on some music on the speaker we have in the kitchen while making breakfast. I realized it cheers me up a lot. music. just any and all forms of music; listening, playing, writing, anything to do with music is my coping mechanism Best one hands down is to do anything that will take your mind off of whatevers fucking with your head. If you can’t go through and process emotions attatched to whatevers going on, then you need to occupy your mind and time with something else. Don’t go drinking as it’s likely to pop up again if it’s one if those intrusive thoughts, that’ll get worse when booze is involved and can easily lead you to spiralling. Do something physical maybe, like go for a run, get a punch/kick bag, maybe try a martial art.
“going through this will give me a good story to tell” idk why but whenever something bad happens to me I kinda feel like it’s an opportunity, makes my life more interesting or something idk, and I like making jokes out of bad things that happen to me so it gives me more material ig Consciously, my best coping mechanism from my experience is taking things in small chunks. I can’t change everything all at once, know all the It’s Okay To Be Different Autism Awareness Cute Elephant shirt but in fact I love this answers, or make perfect plans–so I just take things one day at a time. Removing the pressure to plan days in advance or consider every possible option is a great way to navigate stressful situations. You wind up addressing the stress and dealing with it–you’re just breaking it up into small time-frames or jobs.
Kinda like crossing a scary bridge if you’re afraid of heights. The bridge is the It’s Okay To Be Different Autism Awareness Cute Elephant shirt but in fact I love this stressful situation. It might seem too daunting to think about crossing the bridge and all the possible outcomes. But if you take your time and just focus on one step–that’s much easier to process. Once you take a step, repeat. Don’t think about the whole situation, just that next step. That one day. A bite-sized unit. Over time, you wind up making it across the bridge and can look back and feel proud that you made it through. On the other hand, I’m probably not fully aware of all the ways I cope with stress. I think we often do so unconsciously–and usually those methods work but might not be healthy. I know one of my subconscious tendencies is to distract & ignore indefinitely. It works with the immediate stress but sucks when whatever you’re ignoring becomes a bigger issue in the future. You’re usually better off in the long run if you address the problem head-on. Basically procrastination is a subconscious way I cope. It just happens.. A day or two of total sloth and tv binging. I used to feel so guilty, but it can be such a reset! I often feel much better the day after.
Time in nature, being on a mountain, feeling the It’s Okay To Be Different Autism Awareness Cute Elephant shirt but in fact I love this sunshine, swimming in a river, smelling eucalyptus leaves, barefoot bushwalking. I am proud of these, they found me and are healthy. Very rare but very shitty…downing a few drinks too quickly if I’m really having a hard time and planning to pick a fight with my partner to get everything out. I don’t normally drink but all 5f2 of me trashed and yelling is apparently cute enough not to make my partner hate me. These both come before a true spiral where nothing is considered coping or healthy and truly poor choices will be made. Survival has always been human thing. If not for anything else.. Prosper out of spite. Learn what it required to survive at bare minimum and how to make it happen in nigh any circumstances.
The art of sympathizing, but not feeling the It’s Okay To Be Different Autism Awareness Cute Elephant shirt but in fact I love this need to solve the problem for them. The words are “arrr thats terrible, bye then” Worry time. Throughout the day, if I’m anxious, I write down whatever I’m thinking of (usually just a couple words to remember it by) and physically set the note aside. Then I take 20ish min a day to worry — sitting in a not-super-comfy position, like cross legged on the living room floor — and get up to do a mind-occupying activity afterwards without distractions (I.e. my phone, so as not to doomscroll). I turn off the lights, sit my phone on the ledge of the sink with the flashlight on face down, put on a comfort audio book (Harry potter for me) and take an extremely long hot shower and cry if I’m feeling like I need to.
Cry when nobody is looking….except when they ask “what’s wrong?” or “are you ok?” Then tears begin to flow like Niagara Sleep. I hate it but as somebody with extreme depression and high anxiety, not participating in the It’s Okay To Be Different Autism Awareness Cute Elephant shirt but in fact I love this world beyond killing myself, this is the best i can do to survive. Yes im wasting my life but the last 4 years snd counting have been brutal. Im in therapy to fix myself but it will take time. Until that happens, i sleep. Hmm I’ll go on a car ride and scream some death core till I feel better or I can’t talk anymore whatever happens first lol Exercise helps enormously as long as you’re not doing it incorrectly (poor form causing joint damage) or overdoing it with 0 rest days.
317 more repliesLaugh at everything. I refuse to let it bother me. If someone’s rude or bitchy, I think “what an asshole” and laugh. That’s if I can’t do much about it . If it’s catastrophic, say a child dies, I do what I can for support and ask for the It’s Okay To Be Different Autism Awareness Cute Elephant shirt but in fact I love this strength to cope, for all of us. Laying on the floor right in the middle of my PA setup and listening to my favorite sad song so loud it hurts my ears. If that’s not enough getting shit faced drunk, doing cocaine, write some songs with my partner and a lot of talking to him in-between. That will always do the trick even if it’s probably the most unhealthy way to cope with anything haha I’m an alcoholic/drug addict with 12 years sobriety and a sex addict with four years in recovery. All I knew where unhealthy coping skills.
“Stress cleaning.” When my world feels like it’s spinning out of control and my brain won’t stfu, I clean stuff. It might sound silly, but if I see a mess and take care of it, that’s something tangible I can fix and see fast results. Understanding when I’m at my limit and giving myself permission to just BE. No pressure, no “shoulds”. Just acceptance of the It’s Okay To Be Different Autism Awareness Cute Elephant shirt but in fact I love this current state of mind and then focus on self soothing. Fav meal, comfy clothes, snuggling in bed, favorite TV show. Spoil myself with little, no-cost treats until my cup is full again. Finding a way to laugh about whatever it is. If that fails, I try to find some good in the situation (kindness, learning, etc). And if all else fails, I go for a long walk in the woods or on the beach. Going for a walk with my dog. Doesn’t even have to be a long one. The fresh air and waggy tail lifts my spirits.
