Yes, please. So many men insist that all women do this and that’s why they’re pushy. And I’m sure some women do this. But I’ve tried to tell the It’s Ok If You Think Cricket Is Boring It’s Kind Of A Smart People T-Shirt Besides,I will do this men the solution is not to be pushy anyway because why would they want somebody who plays games like that? It would be so much nicer if that whole trope just went away. That way, the vast majority of us who would appreciate our no being taken seriously the first time will be much happier and the guys will end up dating people who are honest about what they want. It’s incredibly common because in many cultures, particularly the US, we have ingrained in women they have to be chaste and many women come from areas of the country that aren’t sex positive. That’s what the song “Baby it’s cold outside” is actually about, that women are expected to give this plausible deniability that they were aloof as long as possible. It’s still a pretty common cultural habit, even if it’s subconscious. I was in a multi-year relationship with a woman that moved to the city to get away from rural conservative bullshit. She was adamantly feminist, vocally consent oriented, but she was socially conditioned in bumfuck. The first time we hooked up about an hour before we left the bar she told me I’d “never ever hook up with her”.

And while the liberal consent crowd wont address all the nuances, the red pill crowd is more than happy to tell men to exploit the very real cultural underpinnings. Oh I know it comes from women being shamed for actually liking sex. It still needs to go away. Men use it as an excuse for everything from harassment to rape. Missing out on a date or sex with somebody who was playing hard to get because you took them at their word is a whole hell of a lot better than harassing or raping somebody because you did not take them at their word. Doing away with slut shaming would help too.
