2 things that worked to your grandparents advantage, since women had not entered the It’s Not Just A Hobby It’s My Escape From Reality Butcher shirt in addition I really love this workforce in large numbers and we were still dealing with a population depression from WW2 wages were higher they also had reduced cost of living because there were not nearly as much stuff to buy to be status quo The thought of ever having kids is slowly going out the window sadly. I just don’t see a way It will ever be financially possible. I don’t think this is really a new phenomenon. When I was a child in the 80s, my parents were hardworking regular joes and we were dirt poor. Others working different regular jobs seemed rich in comparison, and in reality probably matched your grandparents. These are the posts that make me the most angry. My friend who owns his own business and works a restaurant job just bought a ‘condo’ just under 200 square feet. It does not even have a kitchen. He is house poor. Every time I rewatch old episodes of Supermarket Sweep and the It’s Not Just A Hobby It’s My Escape From Reality Butcher shirt in addition I really love this contestants are asked about their professions, 9 out of 10 of the women say they’re housewives/homemakers with at least 2 kids. And every single time, it blows my mind. The fact that that was not only feasible back then for people in their early/mid 20s, but it was so COMMON. It was basically the norm. Now I’m in my 30s, married over 5 years and STILL debating whether or not we can even afford to have ONE kid. It’s insane how much has changed. The differential here is that as certain jobs are devalued, other jobs increase in value (in some cases, too much).
