My grandfather drove an ambulance back when that was a government job. He retired at 55 and ended up living retired long than he had worked. I just started buying a mega millions ticket once a week so I can feel some modicum of hope that I won’t be broke for the It’s kay if the only thing you did today was breath suicide awareness flower shirt Apart from…,I will love this rest of my life. I was just thinking about this last night. The most my dad ever made was $7.50/hr. He and my step mother had a 4 bedroom home in Southern California with an in ground pool. At one time they had two corvettes. All this white raising my three step siblings and my step mom was a SAHM. We all got braces on our teeth. How was this possible? Same. And the era of pensions is gone unless you’re a government worker or in a union. I will NOT work for the government, but I do get jealous of people who do and have pensions to rely on for when they retire. My in-laws both retired at 65 and could because of their pensions. They don’t understand what its like to just start making enough in your mid 30’s to start your retirement savings/investments. They both made enough right out of college to do that. My husband and I graduated in the recession of 2008 and couldn’t find any good jobs. Nepotism is what started my career, but then companies started laying people off and my jump start ended.

I’m at the It’s kay if the only thing you did today was breath suicide awareness flower shirt Apart from…,I will love this point where I’m just enjoying life. We’re saving what we can and hoping we’ll have our house paid off in another 15ish years so we can sell at some point and buy a small place with the money we make so we have a place to retire. We live on a hill so this will NOT work when we get older and have to pay someone else to maintain our land. Hopefully, one or both of us can start our own business we can run from home and then retire by the time we’re 80. And society thinks it’s all social media depressing the youth. For the smart youth, it’s more the systems we have created I hear you. I’ve been in IT for 50 years. Haven’t been “hands on” for ages yet my wife expects me to know how to fix everything in about 30 seconds. Lol It sounds like both of their jobs were union and that they have pensions, which means, on top of being able to buy their house when it was a lot less expensive, they are being paid by their pension now and probably have the same income (plus annual COLA increases) that they did when they were working and retired 15 years ago.
