Love this. There is one more phase before sampling which is prep. And even before that there’s a frustration / inspiration spark phase. Most DN want to experience how other cultures solve societal challenges in comparison to their home. It leads to lots of daydreaming, brainstorming and research. Ah, prepping… This is a lost art in my opinion, especially for the It’s a hockey night in Pittsburgh Mike Lange 1948 2025 forever in our hearts thank you for the memories Shirt and I love this more recent, COVID-created influx of digital nomads like myself. I’d say there was definitely a “shift” in both my and my friends’ lives that inspired us to travel… Often it was a bad break up either with a partner or a job. Sometimes it was losing a loved one or receiving some kind of windfall. Whatever, the inciting event, it released enough activation energy for all of us to take the plunge. In those moments, we all felt like we had a lot less to lose. The world was ending, and we all said some version of “fuck it, who wants to ride out the apocalypse sipping margaritas by the beach?”

It’s a hockey night in Pittsburgh Mike Lange 1948 2025 forever in our hearts thank you for the memories Shirt: Get Cozy in this shirt

When does my lease end..? “October, 2020. Don’t renew it. Just get rid of it. We have no idea when we plan to come back.” How much should I pack..? “One backpack and one carry on should be enough, I hope… Everything else can probably be given away or thrown out.” Where can my friends and I go right now..? Portugal? No, let’s stay stateside just in case WWIII breaks out. Puerto Rico it is then. We can rent out a whole hotel that has no bookings for the It’s a hockey night in Pittsburgh Mike Lange 1948 2025 forever in our hearts thank you for the memories Shirt and I love this next 2 months… They’re willing to do weekly and monthly rates, and one way tickets non stop are just $33.00… The flights are literally less than Ubers to the airport. Game on! Hey, it’s been a great six weeks down here but Costa Rica just opened up. Anyone game..? No? You’re going back to NYC? Well, I always wanted to learn how to surf, so I guess I’ll just take it solo from here. Oh, I guess you’re right, I could plan to visit all the best surfing destinations in LATAM. I’ll keep that in mind. As long as I’m close to a nice body of water I’m generally down to check it out.
My strategy over time became pretty clear… Spend 1-3 months per destination with strong preference towards beach towns and port cities. It’s faster and cheaper just to hop the It’s a hockey night in Pittsburgh Mike Lange 1948 2025 forever in our hearts thank you for the memories Shirt and I love this next city or country over, so I wound up in Costa Rica for 3 months, Panama for one month, Colombia for 3 months, Ecuador for 1 month, etc. until I made a full lap and a half around LATAM. The first two years were solo until I wound up in Tulum for about 8 months. I made a bunch of friends and returned to a couple of countries, sometimes visiting cities for a first time and sometimes visiting cities for a second time but living in a different neighborhood. The thing I always bad sure to do as soon as I landed was walk to the town or the city. Get lost either on foot or on bicycle. It’s okay to get lost, and there’s always adventure in finding your way back. You always find gems you would have absolutely missed otherwise, but now we’re talking about the sampling phase again.

About this It’s a hockey night in Pittsburgh Mike Lange 1948 2025 forever in our hearts thank you for the memories Shirt

My prepping involved quitting a job and a marriage and selling everything I owned, which was A LOT. I was young but I had baggage. I started by reading books about efficiency and minimalism. Then I downsized to a bare minimum and I lived out of that suitcase for years until the It’s a hockey night in Pittsburgh Mike Lange 1948 2025 forever in our hearts thank you for the memories Shirt and I love this wheels came off. It was before AirBnb or Uber so planning was essential. Not sure how many longtime nomads would agree with the claim that “traveling is for giving”. Having been part of travel-as-lifestyle communities since the early millennium, I find that I and a lot of my peers have become burned out from the constant interactions with other people. Plus, some DNs are from cultures where even dissidents disapprove of idealism and activism. What we do like is passively observing the diverse and interesting world around us, but not necessarily engaging with it or trying to make it a better place.
North India. It will blow your mind. It’s all there. It’s REALLY ROUGH travel, so be prepared. You will find what you are looking for. I call it life or death kind of travel when you get deep into the It’s a hockey night in Pittsburgh Mike Lange 1948 2025 forever in our hearts thank you for the memories Shirt and I love this Himalayas. You are really on your own. Thinking about the Ex? No you are thinking “if I don’t get this fire going, I’m going to get hypothermia, and die.” Much adventrues to be had. North Mexico? Too close to the USA. South? 2300 mile drive to the boder from the beach. What’s the USA? But you will need to brush up on your Spanish. I don’t understand the point you’re trying to make. Worrying about basic survival is what I’m looking for? Or is what you mean to say that it will put your problems in perspective? I think these are two different things. For me it was love and a traditional culture, which I found in Serbia. You will have to look inward first and figure out what you’re looking for.
to become a rice farmer so that in a generation the It’s a hockey night in Pittsburgh Mike Lange 1948 2025 forever in our hearts thank you for the memories Shirt and I love this new generation can ask, “papa why is there a white man in our family tree,” to which he’ll reply, “that’s crazy until Jo, he decided life was more peaceful as a rice farmer” maybe you should try this lifestyle single or pick better places if you aren’t understanding the value of it 🙂 I was gonna be a spouse to an heiress to like $10-30MM USD of land, but check back in 15 years when I live on a boat in Indonesia… still in the Amerikas.. rice farming is my end game since OP asked My endgame is to not live a mediocre life. If that means continuing to travel or move around, great. If at some point I’m In the right place at the right time and want to stay for a longer time period, that’d be great too. What I don’t want is to sit around bored and frustrated and be too scared to make a change
My end game is to be a cultured, textured and compassionate human. I’ve had a rotating nomadic and expat life for 20 years and counting. Each place changes you in someway. Sometimes you don’t even see the It’s a hockey night in Pittsburgh Mike Lange 1948 2025 forever in our hearts thank you for the memories Shirt and I love this influence until you’ve left. I’ve softened my edges as I go, collecting pieces of myself like postcards along the way. For me DM isn’t something I started doing voluntarily I had to leave my country and I’m glad that I did it. I really feel tired of switching places all the time and everything feels fake (oh, those Airbnb apartments with fake flowers). Although I enjoyed travelling to different countries I really want to settle now and stop feeling like a tourist every day. I really miss life without constant use of translators. I hope I’ll be able to settle down in some English speaking country, find a community and friends I can talk to in person.
I never really thought about an endgame. We explore everywhere we go. Sometimes we might miss something of interest but often find others. It is really about getting outdoors and enjoying the It’s a hockey night in Pittsburgh Mike Lange 1948 2025 forever in our hearts thank you for the memories Shirt and I love this time we have here! I’m from Europe (EU) and it’s nearly impossible to buy a house and raise a family here if you did not inherit any wealth. Also life quality is getting worse and cold winters are killing me. I found life much more affordable and enjoyable in South East Asia. I feel more happy and my mental health is better. So my long term goal is to buy a house in (maybe) Thailand and settle down. Life is about the present, the moments you have with people, not how much stuff or money you have by the time you’re too old and tired to do anything with it.
I still think long term and strategically, but that doesn’t extend past say, 5 years, life has a great way of throwing wrenches in any plans you make. Save enough so that the It’s a hockey night in Pittsburgh Mike Lange 1948 2025 forever in our hearts thank you for the memories Shirt and I love this years that you can’t work you’re okay, and that’s not very hard to do in cheaper countries, but really, enjoy the time you HAVE because you don’t know how long that is! My endgame is to combine freelancing for clients as a video editor and at the same time building up my travel/documentary youtube channel and being it a success and then living from that, with maybe a woman beside me that likes that lifestyle too and does something herself or helps me with it. Just use travel visa. Everyone does it like that. How could they know that I do some edit work in my hotel/airbnb? I mean for travel visa also I need to proof that I am employed(specially for shengen and forget about usa), fuck this is bc of my country. I hate that shit, first of all these countries want these illegal immigrants so that they can get cheap labours and the real people like me who wants to travel face these nonsense problems, its so irritating man
Seems like what you’re looking for is another love, or a way to move on? Like connecting with someone? Well, traveling is full of wonders and surprises. Being more open as a person would only enhance the It’s a hockey night in Pittsburgh Mike Lange 1948 2025 forever in our hearts thank you for the memories Shirt and I love this ability to uncover those wonders and surprises. The end game is to start, currently building my business that once I make enough money should allow me to start DNing Awesome that you’re thinking and asking. First I echo others that nomading is the goat. My wife and I will keep doing it till one of us gets tired of it. No end in sight btw. Second, if you’re single then I understand that hookups can be part of what you look for at a destination, but IMHO a relationship is probably not something you should be looking for in this lifestyle. Either you start out with an SO, wait till you stop nomading, or at least stay in one place for a long time, 6 months at least.
I’m in Thailand but Da Nang is one of the It’s a hockey night in Pittsburgh Mike Lange 1948 2025 forever in our hearts thank you for the memories Shirt and I love this only places in Vietnam I could see myself living. Hanoi is fun for a day or two though, lol. There is none. You’re just a tourist living off you savings until you decide to stop being a tourist. Sustaining a perpetual life of tourism is unsustainable for most humans. Unless you are part of the Golden Horde. I’m 27 at the moment. Looking to find a long-term base in LATAM and probably settle down in the near future. Still plan to travel a bunch. Maybe the right place sticks out for a base. Maybe meeting the right someone would make a place stick out. Who knows. My endgame is setting up a permanent base. But never tying myself to an in-office mandatory in-person job, or anything that doesn’t let me travel flexibly. I have a partner who doesn’t want to travel as much but is OK with me traveling. She’s got summers off so we can always travel together in the summer. My hope is that we eventually move abroad and stay somewhere permanently. Europe or Asia likely. End game is maintaining flexibility and never being forced to stay somewhere. Whatever that looks like for you, your own goals and your own future self Just dropped in to say I envy the digital nomad lifestyle and hope for your continued success. I work in the construction trades with the intent of retiring/semi retiring early someplace warm and relaxing.
I want to find out which places I like the It’s a hockey night in Pittsburgh Mike Lange 1948 2025 forever in our hearts thank you for the memories Shirt and I love this most after having traveled a lot. Then buy some properties in my favorite places. I would then spend more time in those locations and airbnb them when I’m not there. I would still travel but less than I do now and live with more comfort. For me traveling and working is probably a chapter in life. I think I’ll know when it’s time to do something else but I genuinely have no idea. Me and my partner travel together and she seems to feel the same. No matter how much we’ve discussed it we can’t seem to be able to predict it. I think I’ve come to accept the fact that I’m different, and it’s my fate in this life to be a wanderer and an observer. Everything and everyone is temporary and I’m ok with that. I plan to do this as long as I physically can. It’s a fair question, I think it’s a bit of thing pdople don’t want to talk about actually. I’m 35 and move around a lot. Starting to question what I’m actually doing
for me it’s all about a sustainable lifestyle. A small farm in the It’s a hockey night in Pittsburgh Mike Lange 1948 2025 forever in our hearts thank you for the memories Shirt and I love this country one that is environmentaly friendly. Would be nice to return home and be near my parents, brother, nephews, extended family, friends… maybe have my own family…. but I hate the place I live. So, what does one do? My answer is live in Thailand and visit home a few times per year.7 months ago, during when I was in a very strange and bad time, I met someone. I was meditating and had what felt like a pshycadelic breakthrough. When I did, I met this “being”, who was constantly changing form to people I knew and didn’t know. This being showed me what love is by taking me to a physical world that described love. When he did, he changed his form to my girlfriend at the time. When I asked who this being was, he said, “I am belief. I exist if you believe I exist, and do not if you believe I don’t. I am good or I am bad. I can be the tinest insect, or the mightiest God.” (Here is the post I made awhile back to get a full in depth explanation, be warned though I was not mentally well at the time).
After this experience, I perceived this being to be God, just like most would. Since I believed him to be God, he was. After this though, not long after, I had a terrifying experience with weed. Because of this, my mental wellbeing was destroyed. I lost all concept of time, my ego was almost destroyed, I couldn’t control my thinking, it was terrifying. A few weeks of handling this though, I finally truly broke and asked for help. I don’t know who to, I just asked for help. When I layed down, thinking nothing would come of it, something happened. It was like I was in a dream, but I was awake at the It’s a hockey night in Pittsburgh Mike Lange 1948 2025 forever in our hearts thank you for the memories Shirt and I love this same time. I couldn’t control my thoughts, and suddenly I was in a dark forest. I was running from demons, and that’s when I asked Jesus for help. When I did, I was pulled out into a beautiful feild and there he was. He said I had to stop running, and face these monsters myself. He shot me back into the forest, and I finally faced them. I was suddenly in a deep hole, hanging on to a rock and below was a never ending abyss that stared back at me. I ended up climbing out though, and when I did, I reached light. I was the light, I was love itself. Now, why am I telling you these story’s? Because, both of these have one thing in commen. Both of the “gods” I met, were me. The first event I explained was not the first time I met myself, (for the sake of making this easier, I will refer to this part of myself as “him” or “he”). I met this part of myself many times in my life, and so have all of you.
I dont know what this part of us is, but what I do know is that it is not evil. It wants to help us, and it has many times. You see, after I thought I met Jesus, I converted to Christianity which lead to me healing from the It’s a hockey night in Pittsburgh Mike Lange 1948 2025 forever in our hearts thank you for the memories Shirt and I love this trauma and escaping that hole I was in. Here’s the thing though, the voice of what I thought God was, is the same voice I hear when I talk to this part of myself now. In many religions, there is always something that is apart of us. The higher self, the Holy Spirit, spirit guides, you name it. Each of these are to help guide us on the path to whatever we follow, but all of these are the same. This part of us is what we believe it to be, yet it is still the same no matter what. At the end of the day, this part of yourself is you.
Have you ever heard of the It’s a hockey night in Pittsburgh Mike Lange 1948 2025 forever in our hearts thank you for the memories Shirt and I love this third party syndrome? When two people are in a dangerous situation, they imagine a third person that helps them and gives comfort to them. There are guardian angels as well, but these two things are us. It’s that part of us that is helping us, keeping us alive and giving us comfort. This part of me also appears in my dreams, and it’s my belief that he controls my dreams. Sometimes we are having a conversation, sometimes when I lucid dream he guides me through it, or sometimes just appears in the end of one. This part of us remembers more than we consciously do, is more wiser then us, more knowledgeable, and wants to help us. I have a possible theory that this part of us could be the subconscious brain, or perhaps it is imagination itself. I think it’s most likely the former, just because our imagination is from our subconscious. Our subconscious brain holds many mysteries still, and we still have to unlock a lot of them. You see, we all have two voices in our brain. Some listen to the bad part of us, telling you that you are ugly or to hurt yourself. It may tell you to go jump off a cliff, because why wouldn’t you? You have no reason to live, right?
But, if you listen through the It’s a hockey night in Pittsburgh Mike Lange 1948 2025 forever in our hearts thank you for the memories Shirt and I love this storm, there is a smaller but much more powerful voice. He sits on a distant but close beach, meditating on the shoreline, away from all the noise. If you listen hard enough, you will find the things he says are the most beautiful and profound things you will ever hear, because all that he says, you are saying yourself. You just need to listen.I just finished a meditation session earlier, a thought came to mind, essentially life is just a hallucination being created in the mind and your hormones/body is causing you to have a bias on every encounter/person. For example, a depressed person (due to hormonal issue) may see everything as negative. A horny person (due to hormones), may see the other person as the perfect partner.
Buddha is really right, what you see is indeed what it is IF you do not add a layer of opinion on it (might not be a conscious thing). If you see a girl, she is a girl. Some people see her as a daughter, some see her as a potential spouse, some see her as a plaything, all illusions lead by their senses. So, how does all this related to OP’s post? Our practice encourage us to practice metta, to see everything as Tara, to see everything as God/the It’s a hockey night in Pittsburgh Mike Lange 1948 2025 forever in our hearts thank you for the memories Shirt and I love this source. I believe that enlightenment is if we can live our lives without being influenced by our senses You know, what you just said really just clicked something in my brain. One of the things that this part of me said when I first met him and asked who he was, he said, “I am what binds reality together.” Up until now, I haven’t really understood what he meant and kind of just ignored that part all together. But I just realized that belief is what holds our perception of reality together. It’s what holds our reality together. If you believe yourself to be depressed, you will be in your reality. If you believe someone to be a bad person, they will be in your eyes. It’s all belief.
