Oh no. The CDC did research to find out if lockdowns were working, if people were social distancing etc, so they could verify if the Its a great day to make music sun T-Shirt Besides,I will do this strategy was or wasn’t working. The monsters… how dare they use metadata Facebooks eats for free to base future pandemic strategies around? Horrible! hahaha.. the CDC didn’t have the authority to lock down an entire country, so of course I gave them the finger. They didn’t need to do this, you coulda just seen from my Instagram that I took advantage of the quiet beaches and parks during lockdown. Plus my buddies garage bar that he opened up with Monopoly money as currency. About as normal as it could get at the time. I really wish we could trust the government and companies not to abuse this data. Because if it’s used correctly tracking phones and collecting this information could be amazingly useful for tracking outbreaks and other info. Like planning out public transit.

But we can not trust them to do the Its a great day to make music sun T-Shirt Besides,I will do this right thing. And even if we do who knows who will be in power in 2 years and how they will start using that data. Will they arrest a protester then track their phone to see all the places they have been, and all the other phones around them to arrest more people? It’s hard for me. I love tech and gathering data is the foundation of making very powerful tools. On the other side the opportunities for abuse are enormous. “We please recommend you not go to a bar after 11pm” is not a lockdown. Were there any actual lockdowns in the US? In Florida it was as pathetic as you could imagine. No real restrictions between normal business hours, some half assed “curfews” after most people had gone to bed, and unenforced capacity rules. John Oliver just did an excellent story about this on his show Last Week Tonight.
