It is either blind racism or a default negative image of Indians because of the media and also certain Indians abroad or the fact that many Indians aren’t very comfortable tipping which I even when I worked in the service industry never saw this as a compulsory obligation for the customer to meet Indians are usually hated on flights. It’s a mix between racism and behaviour. However you shouldn’t be judged basis someone else’s behaviour. I would suggest mentioning it the next time and escalating it. If you’re a frequent flier they will definitely respond Its not your fault…probably based on their experience of dealing with the average Indian they meet. The treatment is generally very different in business class. I have noticed similar thing when I travelled Air India from France to Tamil Nadu. Every announcement was in Hindi or English and my parents who don’t speak either couldn’t understand anything they announced. Good thing I was with them. Sucks to be discriminated within the same country.

Sorry it happened to you but globally Indians also have a reputation of being rude, mean, classless, misogynistic & sexist. If somebody’s validation means a lot to you, then try wearing a suit, perfume, expensive haircuts, etc.. to see if that improves things… I have seen how obnoxious Indians can be. When I was in the US, the Indians often looked down upon the black population. Calling them names like “kaalu” “kaliya” “kala chor” is very common. We are the victims of discrimination and we should fight that but boy, we also are some of the biggest racist mfers out there. That is also, unfortunately, a 100% truth. You are right that Indians, in general, are also racist. However, the black people you refer to, in Africa, participated in institutional racism targeted specifically at Indians. Look up the history of Idi Amin of Uganda. The bottom line is, almost all ethno-linguistic group on this planet is to some extent prejudiced/racist against other groups.
