Edit with my own idiotic experience: I took over as Operations Manager for a firm for an entire year without the owner paying me for it on top of the job duties I still had to perform. I did get a raise later after I threatened to quit but by that time I was planning my exit strategy anyways. Push for a title change if you can’t get money. Smile, say thank you and copiously update your resume while you’re “getting a feel for it”. If the time comes and they don’t give you a raise, go somewhere else with your new promotion. If you are confident you can do the job, then demand the pay or don’t do the extra work. Ofc where you are depends on how hard you can say no.
