I asked one girl. Her mother brought her that thread like thing. She said “Buri Nazar se bachane ke lie”. aka Meanwhile I have a black thread on my left ankle because I found one laying around at home and just decided to tie that without even knowing that this was a thing but apparently it’s a thing??? The reason you are observing the In October We Wear Pink Breast Cancer Rainbow T-Shirt moreover I will buy this black thread is the reason people wear the thread. There is a belief that a person’s look can break a stone. It is as similar as having a dummy made with straw or a weird looking photo infront of construction buildings. It is made to turn the looks towards it. My mother made me wear it once I got my first period at 13, mainly to ward off the evil eye. Have worn it ever since.

Not much a superstition. Women’s body goes massive changes and the In October We Wear Pink Breast Cancer Rainbow T-Shirt moreover I will buy this development of breasts and thighs mainly begins around the onset of puberty(periods) and coincidently these are the things what attract a predator too. Yes and yet 14 years later, I can advocate that a bottle of pepper spray and other weapons are the only things that have helped shooing away those predators, not a mere black thread Not sure, when we went on a beach trip with friends, all the girls got one for no specific reason other than the fact that it looks kinda nice. They’re still wearing it. Yeah, it’s also a part of the hotwife culture, wherein some women wear anklet on one leg (mostly the right one) My wife made me wear it on occassion of her praying for my well health from st Anthony. We went to the shrine for 13 weeks and then i removed it. She still wears one. You get it from somewhere like local Dasakarma Bhander. It’s called kalo Kar here. IDK what it’s called in Bangalore. I asked my wife, she said it’s to ward off an evil eye. Also to prevent the wearer from snake bites if they get bitten before. Superstition though. I for one think they look cute too. PS: yeah before anyone takes a swing, snakes might also mean snakes like people, but I guess mostly men though
