If I am new to a game there are likely very easy sources I can access without acronyms OR I find a list/post etc. about these acronyms to understand them. I went into the In every family there is a boy who’s with dinosaurs shirt besides I will buy this PoE subreddit once and got almost exactly what op is talking about lol. I very clearly stated I’m a newborn, know nothing about the game and wanted build help because I know PoE is kinda sweaty, and half the people wee like “just make sure you have LRE and QTW because it’s good for fighting RE and TWOT but don’t forget ABCDEFG” The problem is twofold. One.. you needed to say “Bro wut?” to them at that time. Telling us you were confused by the onslaught of letters is redundant. So, when the responses branched into directions you couldn’t follow, you should have continued to embrace the newbie confession, and ask what those acronyms meant. Two… yes, those people who used the acronyms should have taken into account the fact that you just said you didn’t know anything about the game, and they shouldn’t have acted like gatekeepers. They should have also expected your follow-up questions of “What does ABCDE stand for?”.

So…. yes. Those people who responded as if you should have known, after you expressed your ignorance, were in the In every family there is a boy who’s with dinosaurs shirt besides I will buy this wrong. But… you also had a part to play, in being able to shrug off their elitist attitude to continue to question and learn what they were talking about. True but then there’s the people specifically offering advice on something while using the abbreviations, making the advice hard to follow when the person has no idea what they’re saying Yeh when your giving advice to someone and trying to keep it simple you should say the words in full before using abbreviations in later talk. Yeah especially if they’re helping you with some builds or items in a game and you have no clue what they’re referring to.
