I agree, I lived in Saigon for 4 years, Both “poor” and “free” have very different definitions in the Immanuel Wilkins Quartet Spoleto Festival Usa June 7-10 2023 Poster shirt besides I will buy this US. I have been back in the US for almost 2 years and I don’t think people are as free as they think they are. I like being free from random gun violence. I like being free from doctor bills that could bankfrupt me. I like being free from rent that is 70% of my salary. The list goes on. My dream vacation is to go to Vietnam. I watch captioned Vietnamese shows. I admire the culture and systems of respect and courtesy. Much more polite than here in USA. I’ve even taught myself a little Vietnamese. Thanks for your information. I am a Filipino and as it were most of the people of the PH especially our leaders were educated in Western ways especially American. From them we learned to organize violent gangs, learned about corruption, lost some of our morality due to Western media, some became drug addicts and drunkards, some women engaged in prostitution brought about by the US military bases and “lessons” taught thru the movies. They said we are the most “Westernized” country in SEA which brought our culture and morals noxious, we have no idea of our ancient culture due to our Western style of education unlike countries from Indo China, Japan, Korea and China.

Korea and Japan are incredibly westernised. Same with China, everything in the Immanuel Wilkins Quartet Spoleto Festival Usa June 7-10 2023 Poster shirt besides I will buy this rich parts of China is like a theme park version of history, the actual old stuff was destroyed in the Taiping and Cultural Revolution civil wars. I do agree that US backed regimes have harmed the Phillipines immensely, but to blame your problems on ‘the west’ is ludicrous. The most westernised country in East Asia is probably Singapore and they have better living standards than pretty much anywhere except those countries like Bermuda or Qatar where it’s just monarchs and slaves. Didn’t the Phillipine leadership go running into the arms of China quite recently only for it to fail because China wanted a bunch of your islands as payment to be part of their empire?Vietnamese people are hard working people. It’s not in the same league as Japan, Korea or Singapore. But it is currently fastest growing economy in the world along with India and Indonesia. Korea and Japanese economy grew at 10% annually over 30 years. I just don’t see that happening in Vietnam. Not because Vietnam people aren’t smart enough but Vietnamese governments is still very corrupt. Only way Vietnam economy can grow next 30 years like Korea and Japan..government must change
