I’m also in my 30s, and I try hard now to think of clothes as “dollars per wear”. So I have a $2k purse because I use it every day, but would only ever spend $100 max on a party dress or something. Back in my 20s I’d splurge a few hundred dollars on a dress I only ended up wearing once. same here! when I first got into fashion, I went crazy on buying dresses! now I am more focused on the edge pieces (do I have a nice neutral everyday bag? winter boots that are fancy? winter that are walkable? cute sandals? winter coat? leather jacket?) and basics (silk tops, nice structured skirts, sweaters – that can be mixed & matched and glammed up and made more casual for weekend through work formal events). parties happen once every few months, but my life is lived in the day to day.

I think the I’m the crazy grandpa everyone warned you about Dr Seuss shirt Also,I will get this main changes I’ve made have to do with wearing stuff that I think is both comfortable and flattering, like I don’t wear shoes that hurt my feet just cos they look good anymore. I also tended a lot towards higher necklines while I worked in an office with a bunch of dudes in their 20s, but now that I work from home I’ve brought some lower cut shirts back into the rotation 30’s: Tired of fashion. “Pick a seasonal outfit” and just wear different colors of this same outfit for a season. Minimal effort. Late 30’s to early 40’s: Homeless lady and sometimes old hag. Lost and directionless. Muted solid colors. Mixing patterns when I felt up to it. Mid 40’s: Long dresses, long skirts, soft flowery color palette, boots. Feminine, flowing. Touch of old hag, boho, cottage core/50’s, or whatever I like but it needs to have a feminine flair. Back to my roots.
