I went to repair a mini Bluetooth speaker yesterday that had its charging port break off of the I’m Still Standing Flamingo Rose October Breast Cancer Awareness T-Shirt Additionally,I will love this PCB just by plugging it in. I got so frustrated with its insanely difficult to fix design that I took a hack saw to the corners of it to cut open those deep narrow holes that they put screws down into. Deep enough that my specialty tech related drivers don’t reach down to the screw and narrow enough that a traditional long Phillips head drivers doesn’t fit. I get it that right to repair is important for sure. Apple is just starting to get their feet wet with having repairs available for people to perform. But after seeing how well people follow instructions wearing a mask, I’m supposed to trust people not to puncture a lithium ion battery and when they do not burn their house down?

Difficult if not impossible. Apple have never designed their products to be repairable, and everyone knows that. I remember changing out my screen on my iPhone 4 and even then it was a whole ordeal can’t imagine what it’s like now They have a 3 TRILLION market valuation. Pretty sure they have confidence that they will sell whatever they release. For something that costs hundreds of dollars, why would I want to take it anywhere but the manufacturer to get it repaired? I got a Mac mini and thought I could get an adaptor cable to go along with an older MacBook I could use as a monitor but Apple said nuh uh. No support for their own older models. Apple is never going to do a thing about it. Neither are the thousands of companies that sell us their stuff- It’s a classic conflict of interest- if the devices are too sturdy and/or fixable the market for new purchases dwindles… the only way to protect the consumers is by enforcing strong consumer protection laws. For example in certain countries in Europe they’ve passed laws forcing manufacturers to keep inventory parts on x product for a minimum amount of years (10 years) and so on. Oh no. Apple will have to cry into their big bags of money. The market decided they are fine with Apple’s policies. If they didn’t people would buy Samsungs or other android phones.
