The big difference between apple phones and android phones, is that only apple makes apple phones. Without even reading the article, 1. It’s wasteful to purchase a phone yearly 2. Holding a phone for longer durations encourages optimization. 3. More than likely components will need to be replaced and consumers will see the importance of right to repair.

Purchasing a new phone yearly for a few percentage points increase in CPU power and hardware stats isn’t conservative. I get at least three years of OS updates and 5 years of security updates with Google. That’s good enough for me.
