Please correct me if I’m ignorant but I don’t understand how this could happen. Is there something blocking them from getting jobs or are they just trying to live in London? I’d understand if this is related to racism and they are being denied jobs or housing but it sounds like they’re complaining about the I’m not old just need some wd-40 for my creaky body grumpy shirt and I will buy this price? In my city, you can rent places for like £200-300 a month which you could easily cover between 2 people if just one of them got a minimum wage job. I’m not advocating for this and people should not have to live like this and work for pennies but.. surely a bit of a crap hole in wales or northern England is better than fearing for your life? Do these people come to the UK and try to live in London or one of the massive cities and expect to be able to rent there?

Plentiful but the I’m not old just need some wd-40 for my creaky body grumpy shirt and I will buy this pay is obviously far less than london. I earn 32k as a 1YOI software engineer and it’s a pretty decent salary compared to others for the same YOI. That’s actually quite good to say how cheap the cost of living is, especially if you’re chucking it into assets and growing your savings. I really need to move out of the city lol I work with local authorities regarding their housing and homeless strategies in particular. A lot of Ukrainian households are returning home at this point because they never intended to stay in the UK for ever. It’s clear now that whilst living in Western Ukraine isn’t risk free, there’s basically no chance of it being occupied by Russian forces so families are returning. “You know, i hear the Russians are running low on cruise missiles, maybe we should take our chances back home…”
