I know, easier said than done. I do suggest therapy, with a good therapist is important, so that maybe you can understand the underlying issues and recurring patterns. Now finding a good therapist is also easier said than done. In all cases I hope you luck out in this regard. Also, your dad suffering a stroke definitely has taken a big toll on you, and understandably so. I’m not saying this so you can wallow in sadness or anything, but just so you can be more compassionate and understanding with yourself. This might sound weird, but could you go on a little retreat away from your regular environment? Maybe a meditation retreat or smthg? Could that perhaps help you to clear your mind a bit and come back re-energized and refueled. I wish you the best of luck. Southerner here. I also thought it was a compliment. Like they’re really good at the thing. Similar to saying “you did it how fast? You’re a machine!” I would have thought calling someone a “weapon” was the same as calling them a “rocket” i.e. not a compliment. Also Scottish. No idea, as there’s 15 years between me and my friend and we both use the same context. Must just be a Highland thing I work with Australians and they all think “weapon” means someone who is hard working and good at things. I have to remind myself they’re not insulting me when they say it. I would think it was more like “You absolutely tool” than “You absolute diamond”, so I think I’d laugh or be offended if someone called me it, depending on who they were, but it’s not an expression we use where I am. Yet. As a southerner, I immediately assumed that it meant incredibly attractive, and I’d have blushed, thanked you and taken it as a brilliant compliment.. Although, every other comment suggests that it means you’re an idiot, which would then just double confirm your statement and justification of calling me an idiot..
