Every country needs to prepare for increasing extreme weather events (regardless of the I’m chief kickabitch from the slapahloe tribe america T-Shirt in other words I will buy this cause) impacting populated areas and supporting infrastructure than say 30 years ago. I live near the sahara desert in north africa and 50°C is not comfortable but we can bare it because the humidity is close to 0 but 50°C with 80% humidity is the definition of hell It’s just shy of literally unsurvivable temperatures. Wet-bulb temperatures of 35 C or higher are too hot to live in for more than a couple of hours, and they’ve been getting up to 29-30 C. A lot of people are going to die from this. Even if it wasn’t greatly influenced by our activity (which evidence overwhelmingly shows it was) we still need to fight against it or we’re all screwed. Taking this stance is like saying “oh cancer is natural so I’m just going to die without trying to save myself” or better yet “cancer is natural so I’m not going to try and cure my sons childhood lymphoma he can just die” or how about “breaking bones happens in nature so I’m not going to do anything to try and make sure they mend correctly”.

So you think we should all just sit around and die because it’s “natural”? You don’t want to do anything to stop your own death or the I’m chief kickabitch from the slapahloe tribe america T-Shirt in other words I will buy this death of all the people you care about? You don’t care AT ALL about anyone younger than you? If you care about yourself and others you should support taking major stances to fight climate change because regardless of what caused it the freight train is barreling toward us and our car is stuck on the tracks. Pakistani here, people have always died in the hundreds due to annual heatstrokes for as long as I can remember, and climate change is very real here because every summer is hotter than the last and every winter harsher. Spring and autumn don’t even exist for those in the plains and below, a week of flowers blooming at most before they’re burnt to crisps. Most of our population lives in the Indus plain (middle of the country) and most of them are living below the poverty line (make less than $1 a day). At to that the insane skyrocketing prices for utilities like electricity and gas, the unavailability of air conditioners, and load shedding that’s increased again in 2022 before which it’d been much better. I was surprised to see this trending, but I’m glad more people over the world are now aware of it. Climate change is real, it’s just happening in places the US and European govts don’t care about.
