If you are doing all of this stuff while having a Dev job and you have to worry about a PIP now I think that’s an indicator that you’re focusing on the I’m A Nurse Whats Your Superpower Vintage T-Shirt it is in the first place but wrong things. If you’re working right now, unless it’s a horribly toxic environment, why are you so aggressively trying to find a new job in this horrible market for developers? You should be focusing first on making sure you deliver value to your company, so that you could avoid layoffs or being put on PIPs. If you want to keep your leetcode skills up, that’s fine. Just do it casually. You really shouldn’t be seriously in the market for a new job for the next year or two while this job market is so rough. In terms of juggling two projects, why? If they’re passion projects that you just love to do then that’s fine and that’s on you. However, if you are a working developer not many people care about your side projects. Side projects are for folks who don’t have any experience. If the most exciting thing about your resume is your side project then that could be another indicator that you need to make some adjustments with your job. Why are you doing this to yourself? You’re already a developer. What are you trying to achieve? I do none of that shit, and still got promoted, got some project management tasks with the salary to show it and basically chill my ass off after work. I do interviews about once every 3 months and I still get job offers. I don’t understand what your aim is. Sounds like you are you’re own stress.
I’m A Nurse Whats Your Superpower Vintage T-Shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt
Yes. For 99% of people, that is how money works. If it isn’t competitive to get the I’m A Nurse Whats Your Superpower Vintage T-Shirt it is in the first place but job, then the job itself pays low or has other issues. Everything in the universe of working for other people has a tradeoff. None of my jobs in the last 5 years have been like that. If any learning is needed, they expect me to do it on the job and pay me for it. But then again, none of the jobs I’ve ever had in over 10 years had PIPs. Sounds like a big tech thing and that culture is not for me. If you already have a job. Why even work on two personal projects? Employers just care about experience. If you want a new job. Grind leetcode and cut out the project. I code 4 hours a day and call it a day. Might read a book from time to time for personal fun but you are doing something wrong if you feel like you need to do so much cus thats 1 way to burning out. Don’t forget that with 20% effort you can achieve 80% of the result. And thats as much as they get out of me. Clinical lab scientists get mailers from desperate hospitals detailing sign on bonuses. Getting into a training program is equally hard, but you’re set after that and paid pretty well. It goes on like this. Of course that could all change with market conditions and automation at any time. So yes, there are a lot of careers that aren’t as difficult and are very rewarding. And a lot that aren’t. Answer to ur question: jobs which pay as much as faang swe are significantly more competitive (law banking medicine etc)
