my granddad was a photographer for a newspaper and my nan was a cashier at a supermarket, they are both very well off in retirement. My house in similar size bought in 2020 cost over 3 times my annual salary. This is why we work all the time.

Trickledown economics has never been proven to be a correct theory. I read these and feel in a weird place. I’m 45 wife is 46. But I could see this coming since I was in middle school. Now we were the last generation to be able to get a house with not much down and our mortgage with taxes/insurance is $850 a month. Household income has been around 100k or a bit over for most of the past decade. And where we live that has been good but now…. I had some job struggles that really broke me over past couple years. But that’s sort of a side story. But I look at life for our daughter moving forward (16) and thankfully she will be getting a full ride to college. But even then, what happens? How do you afford places to live when crap apartments in midwestern small towns are $1700? Hell…. Cars now with 175k miles people want $7500 for…. I mean… something has to happen right? I just find myself drinking more and saying screw if. I want to see my daughter grow and be successful. And I’m thankful we don’t have to deal with the core struggles many of you deal with. But it’s all so depressing I just don’t care if it ends tomorrow
