You would be amazed how quickly a company will turn things around when they receive an email about being disinvited from on-campus recruiting in the I’m a Disney Grandpa It’s Like a Regular Grandpa But More Magical Shirt Also,I will get this future. Too much white space? Not enough debug logs? Making a syntax tree? Wtf is this internship? This sounds like something you’d hear from a hazing or something. Even a skilled developer will take at least a month or two to get up to speed in almost any new position/company. 3-6 months is more like it. Their expectations were waaaay off in terms of a sophomore intern with no knowledge of their tech stack or code. You shouldn’t feel like a failure unless you misrepresented yourself to them, which seems unlikely. Something has to be missing from this story. The only way you’d go through the effort to hire and then fire an intern after 2 weeks is if they did something seriously wrong.

its a remote internship…so idk what I did wrong. I communicate on their platform reguarly. Just get as much as you can to put on your resume and then leave when the internship is over. The experience is valuable even if you just last a couple months. It will help you get a better internship at a better company next. I can’t get another internship, its way too late in summer. I am of course going to keep trying, but I’m not hopeful So how much time did you waste between getting the internship and starting? It only takes a week to learn a high level programming language. I merged over 300 lines of code into the product. I have already merged 3 pull requests. When I said that not knowing the language was an issue, I meant because I don’t understand the intricacies When I see these stories I always think they’re startups. Not all are bad but meh. To each their own. I would never ever work at a startup. I have several years experience, I am ‘senior level’ just started a new job. Still Won’t know shit at 2 weeks. Don’t feel bad. They sound like a piece of crap team honestly. Look for another internship or find a co-op. If you need money for tuition, consider doing a co-op. A co-op can be a full time position for a student and sometimes goes well into the school year. You’ll either find yourself working part time while going to school or taking a semester off completely as you complete your co-op. My co-op started in August then ended in May and I was still taking classes. Others require you to take the semester off as I mentioned earlier. It could be a good opportunity for you to gain that experience, but to also make enough to pay for tuition.
