I work for a Home Emergency company and we had several calls a couple of weeks ago from neighbours who were calling on behalf of their Jewish neighbours. They said that they couldn’t enter their block of flats because it used a fob key and because they couldn’t use any electronic devices during Shabbat, they were locked out. They chose to be locked out of their flats for their faith… It was crazy at the time, dealing with the calls and knowing what to respond with but after I googled it I had a lot of respect for them and their dedication… Even if it was in my eyes silly that they chose to buy flats that require fob entry when they practice their faith.

In India its normal for friends (male) to hold hands. This is especially weird considering being gay isnt very excepted. Apparently a lot of Koreans have a gene where their body just does not get smelly with BO. As a result, deodorant is not really a thing there. In my language there’s only 3, past, present and future. It happens but not in all families. That’s just the age when legally, parents are no longer responsible for their children. I have a friend who kicked her son out at 18 but I a lot of parents would support their kids longer, like through college. Not really true at all. It just means at 18 you become a legal adult and the parents have no more legal obligation to provide for you but the vast majority of parents continue to support their kids well beyond age 18. Most families do expect an 18 year to either find full time employment or to continue their education at University though. That Korean and Japanese languages have links all the way to the Turkish culture. Koreans and Turks have had alliances for thousands of years. In addition the origins of modern Vietnamese people stem from hundreds of thousands of Chinese boat people/ pirates who were against an unfair class system that robbed them of land and status. They settled in Vietnam and aligned/assimilated with the native population to establish a rice smuggling black market and became a force which the Chinese Imperial Navy couldn’t quell thus giving rise to Vietnam’s dynasties and strong characteristics of hatred of imperialism. Hence why so many nations had trouble holding on to Vietnam or invading throughout history. Also why America was in over their heads when they arrived. You have a culture who are well versed guerilla warfare tactics in one of the toughest terrains for fighting with thousands of years of tactical practice behind them. (Learned it from a university course on the history of pirates and smugglers)
