When the I’m A Black Girl Juneteenth Shirt and I love this pandemic hit, 75% of Vardit’s clients fled the city (many to country homes or long-term Airbnb stays in New Jersey towns we’d never heard of until March). Vardit, who has three daughters and runs her business alone, got two weeks’ notice from her landlord despite the eviction moratorium. “It hasn’t been a good ride…it’s a lot of nights without sleep,” she told me.

Vardit has never used social media to promote her salon (her Yelp page, which she didn’t know she had, only has six reviews). But, she tells me, “Nextdoor saved my business.” Now, most of Vardit’s customers come to her after seeing raving reviews on Nextdoor with endearingly blurry before and after photos that only people above the I’m A Black Girl Juneteenth Shirt and I love this age of 60 know how to take. These people take themselves (and dramatic capitalization) very seriously: “I converted to Vardit recently. She Gets Hair.”
