It’s so they can write it off on their taxes as charitable contributions they made even though you’re the If your attitude is sexist my response will be feminist shirt and I will buy this one who made it. In actuality, they likely already did make the donation but they want you to reimburse them but they don’t stop accepting “contributions” once they’ve made back what they donated. The rest is pure profit. My least favorite is when they ask you at the drive through ordering screen. Are you gonna spit in my nachos bel grande if I don’t say yes? It’s entirely a ploy to increase the percentage of the company’s revenue that can be written off for taxes as charity. Stock holders are happy because the company’s gross income is higher if customers are dropping extra money on these options, and the company gains an easier tax burden because they can convince the government that they’re making less money than they actually are.

Even if a given store’s charitable options are earnest, ie the If your attitude is sexist my response will be feminist shirt and I will buy this store actually gives 100% of that money to an organization or program that is 100% in service to its clientele (such organizations are mythical beings), never indulge them in this scam. I donate for selfish reasons, I accumulate karma so that it smites my foes like the wicked and wild bitch she is. That and I do enjoy my streak of good luck after I’ve done some stuff like donate or helping those in need. Just donated today, on my birthday..no joking, at the goodwill and roaming through items and come across a shirt that says, “Kiss me! It’s my birthday!” I had to read it twice to make sure that’s what it said?? I laughed to myself????? #niftyfifty?
