Anecdotally, I recently drove from Philly to Richmond and then back a few days later. On my drive up I95 I counted 46 left-lane-lolligaggers. 44 of them were looking at their phones “I’m going the I Wish Eye Rolling My Trainer Burned Calories T-Stars Shirt moreover I will buy this speed limit!” Yeah, precious, move your self-righteous ass over. Bet you park your shopping cart right in the middle of the aisle. Thus is one of my driving pet peaves. The thing is, when my wife drives, she does this all the time. But my bringing it up will only lead to an argument. So I just do most of the driving. My driving philosophy is simple. No one behind me, no one ahead of me. I drive faster than most people (I go at or below the speed limit anywhere near pedestrians, I’m still a safe driver), so most of the time, I stay in the left lane. If someone is going faster than me, and there is a wall of cars on my right, I will accelerate and then change lanes once we pass all the cars, allowing them to get through. I will continue until I reach the next group of cars, then go back to the left lane, then stay there until I need to go over again, whether it is to pass someone in the left lane who is going slower than me, or to let someone go past me. If I encounter someone else in the left lane, I don’t really get bothered by their speed, as long as they are going faster than cars in the right lane. I understand that some people don’t like to go as fast as me, and if they are going over the speed of the right lane in the left lane, I won’t be bothered. The one scenario that pisses me off on the road is people that go the same speed, or a tiny bit faster than the right lane. Why are you in the left lane if you’re not interested in passing people?

Me, I generally drive faster than traffic. I hate getting back into the I Wish Eye Rolling My Trainer Burned Calories T-Stars Shirt moreover I will buy this right lane, then getting back into the left and so on. Moment I see someone going way faster than me I get over. Plus some on off ramps are annoying as hell where I live. So if I can just drive in the left lane while people struggle to get on and off in the right, I feel safer and it allows me to be out of the way for others. Lack of awareness and/or full understanding of the law. Example: on a road trip from Houston to Austin, a friend offered to drive; he sped and drove erratically the entire time but also he stayed in the left lane almost the entire trip. Now, he was speeding but not enough – so people just kept passing him on the right. He literally at one point said “I don’t get it why are so many cars passing me, I’m going above the speed limit! They can just go around!”
