Typhoid Mary could not be cured at the I Seriously Need A Speed Bump Between my Brain My Mouth shirt also I will do this time, so there is a big difference between these two cases. However, you are right that Typhoid Mary knowingly spread typhoid. She knowingly spread it after having been told by health authorities that she must not prepare food for others and doing it anyway. If you check out her story, she didn’t believe them, at first. But these concepts were very new, even educated people weren’t all on board. If I recall correctly, the Dr that had been pursuing her was still trying to convince his peers that it was a fact. I don’t remember how many families died, but at the end, she didn’t resist when they came for her. She knew it was true by that time. I watched a special on it some years ago, the whole thing was really tragic, and made me feel as bad for her as the dead. I was under the impression that she never accepted that she had typhoid since she had no symptoms? As for deaths, per wikipedia: believed to have infected between 51 and 122 people with typhoid fever. The infections caused three confirmed deaths, with unconfirmed estimates of up to 50. I can honestly tell you, my knowledge is entirely derived from the special I mentioned, and it was at least 10 years ago. I may mis-remember information, and it could have been sensationalized also. It was pretty theatrical, with performers acting out the roles of the people involved.

Lady they had playing Mary was a pretty freckled redhead. I don’t remember the I Seriously Need A Speed Bump Between my Brain My Mouth shirt also I will do this name of the show. It was presented in a documentary format. Ah, I did don’t know there was any sort of reasoning behind it. I thought she was just one of those sociopaths who say everyone is out to get them whenever they face consequences of their own actions. Yeah she was a cook and had zero support system, no husband or family. They told her to stop doing the only job she knew how to support herself with. Yeah, but if people are constantly dying because of you, you’d think compassion for others would kick in at some point. Her choices were learning to sew or whatever vs killing people. She chose killing people. She didn’t believe she had or carried Typhoid tho. At the time germ theory wasn’t even widely accepted let alone the concept of a healthy carrier. And she had good hygiene, it’s just that Typhoid is extremely stubborn and requires above and beyond, much more scrubbing than normal hand washing procedures. It didn’t make sense to her, it was much much more likely that she was victim to racism against Irish immigrants, which was extremely common at the time. She wasn’t being malicious. Well yeah, but real people were dying actual deaths in front of her Irish face over and over. At what point do you go “the thing they keep telling me will happen keeps happening, maybe there’s something goin on”?
