Combining that with the total nonfarm payroll employment increase of 339,000 seems like the job market is ‘treading water’ at best. There is 550 openings just where i work, but when we need someone in our department it often takes 6 months to hire someone they want to hire. We also have very low base pay, so they interview tons of people then offer $15 an hour for a $25-30 hr job. Tons of job listings are fake, I’ve had experiences from my personal circle of ppl trying to get a job at company X forever, finally getting in the door and eventually asking hey why do y’all never respond to most applicants and their internal friends let them know they respond 100% to their few real listings but they always have gazillions of fake listings up just to “collect data on the market and see who’s applying” it’s insane. Depends on industry and timing but for non recruiting season in the 5 biggest “prestige” industries, it’s me and my friends’ strong belief that a significant majority of job listings are fake, applicants won’t be properly considered, and most will never result in a person genuinely being hired

The entry level positions that could be filled for $15/hour with dozens of applicants 5 years ago don’t even get an application at $25/hour now. I personally am really supportive of a tight labor economy. Go get your bag, make them pay you what you’re worth. It’s not bullshit. You just don’t get it. Certain jobs are popping, but other jobs may not be. Depends on the I never thought my day of would come from a judge flower shirt and I will buy this industry.
