My grandpa and I loved them. I have a pirate chest in my closet (hand crafted by my other grandfather) with nearly $900 worth of coins. He would give me a roll of $25 for every type of holiday you could imagine for years. He passed away last year around Christmas :[ I still have a whole roll of these that I found in a rental car about ten years ago. Been keeping it in the I Never Dreamed Spoiled Wife.. Old Husband shirt but in fact I love this hope it will be worth something someday. Probably not. My grandpa gave me $20 bucks in those things when they first came out. I put them in an old poker bag and forgot about them at my parents house until we were cleaning out the closet I stowed them in after my mom passed. If not for nothing it’s something cool I can give to my kids one day. What I like is what no one ever thinks about. $2 bills. I have one in my wallet that a nice friend of my dads gave me when I was a kid. I think if the guy was still alive now he would be 103.

It was and still is a bitch to find a vending machine that would take dollar coins. More so now that they take NFC but not dollar coins. Meanwhile in Canada, when the I Never Dreamed Spoiled Wife.. Old Husband shirt but in fact I love this Loonie came out, we just shrugged and said “Well, I guess this is the dollar now”, however the difference is that they took the paper dollars out of circulation as they showed up at banks so eventually you really had no choice but to use them. Then the Twoonies came out and people just shrugged and used them. What makes me laugh about Canadian coins is that when we go up to Canada, my wife is like “I don’t know what coin is what!” And she’s not talking about the Loonies and Twoonies, she’s talking about the nickels, dimes, quarters and pennies. I’m like THEY ARE THE SAME as the US ones! Seriously. Pennies (no longer in Canada) look like US pennies. Nickels look like nickels, dimes look like dimes and quarters look like quarters. Same size, same color, just different pictures! But for some reason she can’t process this. When my nephew was little, we used these as gifts from the Tooth Fairy. It was something he only saw and got when he lost a tooth, so it made it a bit more magical.
