Those were the I May Live In Tennessee But I’m A Dallas Cowboys Fan Forever 2023 Shirt In addition,I will do this 4 most miserable years of my life. He was every bit as bad as I remembered, maybe even worse, and I had to work with him closely. He berated me for simple mistakes, he berated me for refusing to break copyright law to put something in a report, he lied during my yearly performance review, gave no training or direction, and a hundred other things. I have a different job now and am infinitely happier even though I make less. Your direct supervisor can make your job utter hell. That you noticed it and made the right decision shows your wisdom. I would NEVER take a job if I didn’t like the person I would actually be working for or with the most. They could pay me ten times what I make now, I could literally like everyone else and their mother, and I would still not take it. Personally, albeit more related to the rather specific nature of my job, I wouldn’t even take a role where I liked my direct manager, but not the one a level up. Definitely the right call on your part, OP. I just had a similar experience earlier today: Teams video interview with the hiring manager, he just had “to be honest” & stated that the job is very demanding & stressful (implied: because he’ll be yelling at everyone all day), then lowballed me on wages. Don’t let people like this push you around.

I had a similar situation almost 2 years ago where I liked everyone interviewed but felt something off with the HM. Nothing specific just a gut feeling. About 10 months later I hated him and was just miserable until he laid me off two weeks ago. He got so lucky the job market turned or I would’ve left way earlier. Luckily I got some severance out of it – many times I just wanted to quit with nothing lined up. Yes, i had a supervisor/manager like that and you did the Right thing my friend. it was a fricken nightmare. work was living hell, dreaded getting up in the morning to go to work. depressed Sundays because Monday meant work. trust me it is NOT worth it. you want to live like that, wishing your life away, wishing it was friday every day of the week, manic on Friday because your off for the weekend, depressed sunday because its over as soon as it seemed to start. wishing it were time to go home, counting the hours. the stress of dealing with dick, the impact to your health, your sleep, your home life? is that what you want for a few shekels more?
