Losing a child probably is the I May Live In Missouri But I’m A Dallas Cowboys Fan Forever 2023 Shirt But I will love this worse human experience one can live, and it’s not even an improbable thing to happen. This is an important point people don’t talk about in the childfree community or the parenting community really. I get that hearing parents talk about this new special kind of love can be annoying or sound like we’re trying to rope CF people into having kids and make no mistake, I would do ANYTHING for my kid. Anything. There’s absolutely nothing he could do that would make me stop loving him even one iota less. I cannot say that about anyone else in my life. Like if my kid literally did the most vile thing imaginable I would still love him every bit I do now. The thing is, as someone who was childfree well into my 30s and didn’t consider even having kids until then, that new special different love is VERY heavy. To carry around so much love for another person, someone who I would die for without a second thought, isn’t comforting. It’s scary a lot of the time. It’s a cliche but it really is like having your heart running around outside your body haha. Loving someone in any other sort of relationship the way I love my kid would almost be like…weird. I don’t know if overall am happier for experiencing this new kind of love but boy am I changed. When I talk about the responsibility of having kids I’m talking less about the late nights and diaper changes and tantrums and financial aspect because once you have them it’s just stuff you have to do. The real responsibility is the weight of the love you now just carry around every day for the rest of your life. You will always have another person to care about more than you’ve cared about anything and you will always have to know that if anything happens to them your life would be over. I wish I had someone verbalize this to me before having my son, I don’t know if it would have changed anything but I was truly blindsided not by the extent of the love but the weight of it.

I’m 37 and have a long list of reasons why I don’t and very probably never will have kids, but yeah, this one is probably in my top 3. I love this, and I feel the I May Live In Missouri But I’m A Dallas Cowboys Fan Forever 2023 Shirt But I will love this same way! Experiencing such a profound unconditional love has brought me joy, pain, anxiety, all of the things. But to such an intensity I never would have thought possible without having children. I’ve learned so much about human beings and their unique psychology, it’s astounding. My life has been enriched, and complicated, beyond measure. But, if you never had it, you’ll never miss it. But, like good LSD, it’s a trip and I’m forever glad I took it. Yours is my answer. I think you have to be in the right situation to fully appreciate how amazing the experience is. My first child is about to turn five months. It’s difficult to put into words, but I can’t imagine being without him. It’s kind of like how you can’t imagine not having a right arm, or feet, or a tongue. From his birth, he’s just been essential part of life. It’s impossible to explain to someone who hasn’t experienced it. It’s nowhere near comparable but when I saw the Grand Canyon for the first time, it clicked, “Oh okay, this is why this is a thing.” It’s more incredible than you could imagine. I had a similar experience when I saw The Milky Way for the first time. I just love holding him, putting him to sleep, feeding him, seeing his face light up.
